I got to say todays Turkey adventure is probably the best Turkey hunt I`ve ever had. Maybe the blindless bird at fort stewart with a Hill bow tops it but I don`t know. I`m trying to figure out how to word this hunt where it will seem real but its gonna be tuff.
 I got to start with thanks to God for His blessings cause without Him nothing is possible.
 I would not have give a dime for my chance at killing another Turkey this year. The last four times I`ve been I`ve not heard a Gobble. I had already decided turkey season was done for me and after a hunt on Wednesday Morning I would get after pork and catfish.
 I did not hunt this morning but road to town with my Wife as she had to go to the dentist at 8:15. after that we went by and bought a few plants for the yard and got home maybe at around 10:30. she opened the truck door before me and said she heard a Turkey Gobble.I asked if she was sure and she said yes.I`m thinking she heard something else. I had already seen poult and hen tracks and not heard a gobble in a while. I went in and got my bow and decided to walk to the creek and stump shoot some. I slid on the snake boots and left the yard on foot. Just out of the yard I took my first shot and as I started for my arrow I heard a Turkey gobble. Unreal. I don`t think Iv`e ever killed a turkey in May. I run back to the house. Get my hunting pack and grab a Special turkey call.
  I have two blinds set. One on an Island and another on a Beautiful pine ridge about 4-500 yards apart. The Turkey is closer to the Island and sounded like he was actually on it.Its windy so noise was covered a bit and thats good because I sat a decoy up and got in the blind and the Turkey gobbled on his own as he had been doing about 75 yards away...on the small island with me.
 I got an arrow ready and whipped out the call and let out three soft clucks. The bird gobbled. I laid the call down and waited. The bird gobbled a couple more times and I could tell it was under 50 yards. I could hear spitting and drumming but could not see the bird. This went on for maybe 45 minutes.
 The bird gobbled again maybe a bit farther away. I picked the call up again and he jumped right on it again. After about 10 more minutes of drumming I could finally see some red and blue atop a ball of black through the bushes. It has thickened up here with all the rain and sight distance was limited. I watched the bird strut for another 30 minutes under 30 yards and as close as 20 with no openings for a shot.
 Finally the bird comes from right to left around a palmetto and hits a gap at 19 steps. He is broadside and its thick. I realize this could be the only opening he hits so I hit anchor and bare down on my spot. The arrow is gone and a bird is flopping. Again all I remember is the bow being drawn and everything else is a blank. I do know I had tunnel vision on where I wanted the arrow to go. I hit maybe an inch higher than I was looking. Tagged out . A first for me with a stickbow. God is Good.

The bird had a 10 1/4 beard and one hook that was 1 1/8 and the other was only 7/8...




An outstanding Turkey season for me. 4 shots. 3 hits and kills with recovery of all birds and one mmmiissss. Around 80 hours sitting in a blind.RC

Awesome Robert! You never cease to amaze. I got me one of them calls...and one of them bows too. Now I just need me a swamp rooster in front of me. Congrats on a very fine bird!
