Sandwiched between two days of hurricane winds, Last Saturday was a picture perfect day to be in the turkey woods. With my Widow KBX nicknamed El Uno in hand I took my heaviest bird todate

24 lbs 11 oz! 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Three strutting toms came to my calls 2 hours after fly down. I missed the first bird shooting a tad high and sending my arrow through nothing but feathers. I quickly cut the string on the string tracker and knocked a 2nd arrow. Tom number 2 came thru my lane at just 4 steps from the blind. at impact he was knocked sideways but was able to get airborne and sail sown the ridge into the worst place possible. after 2 hours we finally found him laying at the very bottom in the creek bottom! it was a great day with a great friend in west central Iowa

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
