Looking for info on a very knowledgable hunter who wrote an artical in a hunting magazine called "the man who could touch deer". His idea of a successfull hunt was shooting a a deer and have the arrow still on the string when it hits. I think he has a survival school in Pennsylvania. I think his methods would be usefull for trad hunters.

I haven't heard of him or that feat, but if someone can get that close to a PA whitetail on public land, I want a lesson too.

I'm not sure if this is the same guy or not, but I remember reading or hearing about a guy that was a marathon runner who when there was snow would get on a set of tracks and keep trailing the deer until it wore out and he could walk up and touch it.

I think the story ran in Outdoor life. I said before that I don't to get that close but a 15 yard shot would be nice. I think many of his methods would be most usefull for the trad bowhunter.

Iv read before were American Indians would sometimes run a deer down until it was too exhausted to flee. No reason (other than enough avalable land ) that a fit person couldn't do it today.

Thank you rastaman, thats him. One important thing was one and a half minutes to complete a step. He also advocated natural camo like campfire ashes,rolling on the ground in dirt and leaves, and going bearfoot.
