I have a Maddog longbow, 67" 47#@28" and a Maddog recurve 54" 45#@28 and want to get SBD Ultra high performance strings.  What length do I need to order?  Seems like I always mess the length up.

Do you have strings for them now that are set for the brace height you want? If you do give Pierre a call and he'll tell you how to measure them and he'll hit it right on the money.

Contact both Peirre and Maddog maker and check if you want to be sure.
If you gave amo lengths marked on the bow the string should be 3" shorter to give correct brace height, measure what you have and check it out.

I just took the strings off and measured my recurve at 49.25" on a 54" bow w/ brace height of 6.25.  The longbow was 61.5" on a 67" bow w/brace height of 7".  I wait and see wht Mike from Maddog say, then order the SBD.

Good plan.
Curious, are the lengths you post the actual measured tip to tip length or the amo listed on the bow?

DON'T measure the strings off the bow. they will contract, giving an inacurate measurement. Measure the string strung w/ the proper brace height. Ask me how I know,LOL. Also you can measure your bow, NTN, unstrung along the "back" of your bow. My Maddogs usually take a SBD string 2.5" shorter than the NTN measurement. Hope this helps.

Katman, yes 54 and 67 are written on the limbs.

Prairie Drifter, what do you mean by NTN?  Could you please explain or send me a pm to tell/show me how to measure the bow while stung at the correct brace.

Sounds like the strings you have  stretched quite a bit, post your findings from maddog please.

The LB is 63" NTN and recurve 49" NTN.  Once I get an e-mail from mike I'll post it.

Remember to measure along the curve, not in a straight line.
