For those of you who've tried bunches of bow quivers, do you generally find strap-ons or solid mounts(bolt-ons) to be quieter and more vibration free?  I know this may be heavily dependent on the make/type, but I've shot both and my "jury's still out".  When I shot long bows, I insisted on removing quivers on stand, so my choices were limited to easily detachable styles.  Now that I shoot recurves I actually prefer the additional mass, leave them on, and am trying some that I formerly shunned.  Any audible rattling is a deal breaker and the vibration I'm referring to is any tuning fork "buzz" after the shot. Thanks for the input.

Neither....the best I found is the Selway slide on. it don't move, it's silent and well made! But I'm not a real bow quiver kind'a guy!

i like the great northern strap on quiver, light, strong, and it still has an arrow gripper designed for the old style super skinny carbon shafts.

I've not had any problem with the Selways or the Great Northern. Both are good solid quivers. I will say that my favorite is the Kwikee quiver on my Black Widow. Easy on, easy off. I have an extra bracket on my climber and when I get set the quiver comes off my bow and snaps on to my stand handy but out of the way.

When I said I wasn't a bow quiver kind'a guy I should have mentioned that I use a Kwikee quiver a lot.....I get to my spot and off it comes!

I created a strap-on system for a normally insert-mounted quiver.  I use this on my longbow.  I have an identical quiver that I use screwed into inserts in my recurve.  Hands-down, it is quieter with the straps.  My little strap setup has proven to be exceptionally solid, quick, and convenient.  I much prefer it over the bolt-on option.

I agree with you Ron. To me a quiver is just a means to carry arrows. I really don't like it on my bow while shooting. The Kwikee has worked well for me for years. Some times I just tie it or some other detachable quiver on my day pack and use it as a kind of back quiver. I've tried back quivers in the past but haven't found one that works for me. For me it's just handy to use a bow quver when walking through the woods. I'm looking at making one of my own design since a friend gave me a huge roll of heavy upholstery leather.

I like to try different setups and have found that the GN,Kanati, and selway strap on quivers act like limb savers and help absorb limb vibration which does result in a quieter bow.   Just make sure you retune your bow going from a side or limb bolt type quiver to a strap on, it definetly will have some effect on your arrow flight either weakening or stiffening the shaft.

It doesn't move and definitely dampens vibration.

Big Jim quiver on my Toelke Whip as well. I've owned them all but I like the rock solid mounting of Jim's. I'll have one on the Black Creek bow I have coming as well.

I like solid mounts, either limb bolts or side bolts. No noticeable difference in shooting, but I like to carry my bow under my left arm and or place it across my lap when sitting. The strap on/springy attachments always feel unstable, i.e., they move, not up and down, but back and forth.  I just don't like that feeling.

Then old kwikee Quivers have been around a long time....Barry Wensel did use one and Paul Schafer did also.....good enough for them....good enough for me!

I have both, GN strap on and bolt, and don't get any noise out of either.

Selway slide on or quick detach are solid but a bit bulky and when fully loaded the feathers  have to be adjusted just right for clearance. Great Northern adjustable strap on is solid with good fletch clearance and the Thunderhorn strap on is solid with decent fletch clearance also.

None of these rattle when shot, in my experience.

I've tried almost every kind at some point, GN is the best out there, in my opinion.

I have tried alot of bow quivers over the years, GN, selway, black widow, kwikee, kanati, eagle flight, etc.  The best bow mount quiver was the Black Widwo 5/7 and the best strap on quiver BY FAR, was the GN adjstable strap on quiver.  At least that was my experience.
