Back in February of this year I had the pleasure of hunting with none other than Jay St. Charles at Hog Heaven. (Thanks again Ray) and since then I have spoken with Jay on the phone several times and have been planning to have him build me one of his "Classic" hill style longbows. This was fueled even more after purchasing, and reading a copy of "Bows on the Little Delta".

So last week I called Jay up again and officially placed the order. My St. Charles longbow will be:

68", 75@28", it will have laminations of Yew for the limbs with horn overlays and Bubinga for the riser. The grip will be a straight style grip to my specifications and wrapped with Bison leather.

The belly of the bow will have inscriptions taken from Bows of the Little Delta, both from Chapter 25.
On the upper limb in all caps the word  "CHARISMA"
On the lower limb the closing paragraph from the chapter: (Jay says he can write small)
"They lived when legends were possible. They were pioneers and stand-outs when bowhunting was still considered a sport by all concerned parties. Simply getting the biggest and the most does not a legend make"

Will post photos when it arrives in a few months thanks for letting me share in my excitement!

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Hey Eric, two reasons it is not 5-10# heavier.

1) Jay only builds bows as heavy as 75#
2) I need a couple lighter bows for when it gets cold in late season

That'll be a sweet bow, cant wait to see it!!

Waitng for a new bow to arrive is always fun. It sounds like you made a great choice in the Hill style longbow.
