Are there any Horsebow shooters here?

I have big hands and a 31" draw and in my quest the find a comfortable bow without string pinch, I have discovered the Thumb draw.

My Son shoots lefty so I have been practicing with his #30 @ 28" bow and I think I'm ready to make the switch to a 50" horsebow.

I'm not too interested in getting a pretty horn bow, I'm looking for a quality functional bow.

I am looking at shooting off the right side of the bow, and an arrow rest isn't really a necessity.

I'm considering a few different bows,

1. Attila Archery U-finish horse bow

2. Samick SKB or MIND 50

3. Hwarang KTB

4. Grozer Old Scythian

Does anyone have experience with any of these bows?

Does anyone have any other suggestion?

I have not added Saluki bows to my list because they are WAY out of my price range!

The Hawrang is a good choice if the Saluki is not an option.
Look at the classifieds, they show up from time to time. Post a WTB ad

The local shop had the Greatree Kaya Kahn in stock and I was excited to try it out.

They had a #30 and a #50, but unfortunately they didn't seem to want to draw past about 28-29" they just seemed to stack up horribly.

I may take the SBK and Mind 50 off my list because of that. (they seem to be more of a traditional recurve design)

The Hwarang is high on my list, and so is the Attilla, but I haven't heard a whole lot about Attilla, he did respond quickly to my emails.

Im my practice with the thumb draw I'm ending up with about a 33" draw length, I'm talking to Attila @ attilasarchery about making me a horsebow

Where can I find arrow shafts longer than 32"?

My arrows measure 33.5 nock to tip and I'm maxed out.

Not sure about the others, but the Kahn, I'm pretty sure, is tillered at 28". The Hwarang is tillered at 30", and I have seen it being shot at waaaaay longer draw lengths than that. Get in touch with Thomas Duvernay.

There is a guy named James Parker that makes some fine composit bows. I'll look for his contact info and forward it to you this evening.

Angel, you could get footed shafts at something like $80dz for bare shafts, you could use rep arrow pieces to lengthen the shaft, or you could go to bamboo arrows (best of the three).

OK, I have a bow in the works from AttilasArchery, he is going to make the bow so it will draw to #33. I ended up deciding on a #55-60 draw weight.

I'm searching for bamboo arrow shafts, and other than ****, I'm not finding too much, I like the idea of footing the arrows front and rear.

I'd like to find prepared shafts, I'm not too sure I want to straighten and heat treat them myself yet.

Who can do this?

I just ordered from these guys :   Cinnabar Bows  .

I have the Hwarang and it's my favorite bow to shoot when using a thumbring. I also like the Windfighter from Kaya.  I have several that I made. If I am looking for a Hungarian type bow, I make sure the siyahs are not to over built. I have seen some out there with really big siyahs and that is never a good sign. It makes the bow slow and handshocky. I have seen bows from Attila but I haven't shot one but from what I have seen, they actually are well made.

AngelDeVille

Jhoneil, since you have a Hwarang, can it be drawn to 33"? I still may look for one.

I draw it to about 32" with no stacking that I feel.

I have been talking to that guy on another forum!

IF I drew as far as this guy I'd have a 37" draw...

I'd have to have footed arrows with legs too...

The hwarang can definitely be drawn to 33. Ive had a couple, and they are flat out the fastest bows anywhere....NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU...........but they do have some draw backs in stability.
