STEVE R.

I am looking at these new arrows. Has anyone shot these? looking for results.

Steve,
Wish I could help.  I've been looking at shooting these too, but it seems there are very, very few people who are shooting them.
If you try'em let us know what you think.

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

Heavy Hunter 400s - I have been shooting them out of my longbows since early this year.  I bought the shafts at Lost Nation and had Larry cut them for me.

I like the mass of these shafts and they fly excellent out of my bow - even as a bare shaft.

And they are tough! Stumpin' one day, the arrow skipped into a rock pile.  Messed up the point good and the nock popped out part way, but I just pushed the nock back in and threaded on a new point - no problems thereafter.

The shafts *are* expensive and I talked to Larry a couple of times, since he himself is shooting them, before pulling the trigger on a purchase of a 1/2 dozen.

I am shooting primarily wood now cause that is what I prefer to hunt with, but I will probably pick up another 1/2 doz. of the Heavy Hitters in the future.

Good luck with your search!

Here is a question I have had and no one has answered yet.  Do they tune the same as the standard gold tip?  Meaning that did they take the same weight upfront as the standard shafts? I would guess that if they are the same deflection that they should but was wondering.
Thanks.

Hermon - the point inserts are different on the HHs so one does not have the weight adjustability that comes with stnd GT inserts.

Lost Nation Larry told me that his impression was that the HHs were slightly stiffer than stnd GTs.  I would agree, but only slightly.  Having said that, I like the HHs much better than stnd GTs and so do my longbows.

YMMV
