What over the counter adhesive do you use for your brass inserts? I'm thinking about liquid nails or Gorilla Glue.

I've used the Gorilla super glue with great success.  I see that they now have an impact resistant super glue too.

I use plain old hotmelt and a candle, never had an issue with inserts coming out and if I need to remove them I can easily.

just make sure to prep the shaft and the insert.

I clean the inside of the shaft first using a gun brush.
 I use either alcohol or acetone to clean inside of shaft and then wipe down the insert too.

I've used hotmelt, superglue's, epoxy, and JB Weld. The hotmelt is nice if you need to remove the inserts. However, if you hit something hard the hotmelt and superglue will not (at least in my expeience) hold the impact as well and the insert will be pushed back into the arrow.  The JB weld has been the best for me up to this point. I rough up the insert with some low grit sandpaper first regardless of what I use for glue.  Hope that helps.

I guess I have been lucky, I have accidently shot quartz (thought it was a moss covered piece of wood). Have hit the metal legs in 3d targets a couple times and the random tree when on the 3d course. So far I have never had a problem with the insert coming loose. Also, I have not had an issue with carbon splintering since I started using the brass inserts. The aluminum ones give so easily that they will splinter the shafts at nothing.

I use the low heat glue stick. Never had an insert come out. If you epoxy the brass insert in and the shaft gets damage say good buy to the brass insert, but with low heat glue stick you can reuse them.

While I don't like working with the stuff, I've been using the 2-part expoxy that comes with brass insert for HIT style carbon arrows. I've used Gorilla glue on some other types of inserts with no issues.

I've only used the hot-melt for aluminum arrows which I don't shoot much anymore.

I think it all works. Both have their pros and cons...... I use both. The cheap impact resistant supper glue(it's like 3$ from lows) on my brass inserts because they are all I use.  And hotmelt for points. So I can make quick changes without getting the head too hot. I had a few Mag 1's break.... I feel sure I changes the hardness from getting the head too hot while trying get epoxied inserts out.

Thank you very much. This is 1st time I've used brass inserts in carbon arrows. I tried fletching glue and Ducco Cement. Neither worked.
Also, I avoided Gorilla Glue because of its expansion properties. Thanks again.

As far as salvaging a brass insert fm a damaged shaft, I simply use a torch and burn the carbon off.  Then I clean the insert and reuse.  Unlike AL, the brass ones tolerate a lot of heat.

I use Goat Tuff, but have knocked one or two loose.

Depends on which arrows you have. I used hot melt with the Gold tips and they don't hold no matter what prep is done. In my Carbon Express' hot melt holds perfect. I like the hot melt so I can heat and take them out if I ever want to change them. Not sure how it works on other carbon shafts. It also works great on aluminums.

As bsv says the Big Jims hot melt is the best.

Hot melt.  I use the basic hot melt sticks for aluminum arrows.

For GT's I use a rat tail file to scuff up the inside.  The most I get is a slight back out on really hard hits.  The kind that sends your nock off to never see again land.  A little heat and back in it goes.  

I plan to try that new blue stuff for carbons when I run out.  I see they have that now at one of the local outdoor sports stores.

Me too. Hot melt works on everything for me but Goldtips.

on goldtips i use the rubberized super glue.works very well

Gorila Glue also is sold like a super glue as well now...I myself thought who would want to use the kind that expands cause I worry about the expantion splitting the shaft...Then oneday I was in a hardware store and seen the Gorilla super glue..I haven't used it yet but wonder if anyone else has and if so how does it perform to carbons? Keefers <><
