Yep. They're easy to make, and obviously, you don't need a jig. And they fly...well, like flu flus. You can play around with one spiral feather vs. 2, at various lengths, to get the distance/performance you want out of them.

Also, while I haven't tried it yet, I've seen where some folks will straight fletch the first 1/3 or so of the feather for better tracking, and then fletch behind it. Seems like a cool idea.

For a spiral you must use fletch tape?  If not, how do you guide the feather and keep it from slipping while you make your way down the shaft... looks good!

I use tape for all of my other fletching but for spirals, I just use contact cement - on the shaft and on the base of the feather. Here's a good link that explains it:
