And the heart and zest of a 30 yr old, Galen!  :)

If I had country like that to look at, it might make tag soup easier to eat!

Watch the gumbo mud... don't wanna be there a week or more waiting to get out!

Yes this is steep country. Due to the wind direction I had to come in from the west which meant I had to start a lot lower. I went from 5,879 where I parked to 6,382 where I decided to turn around. Lots of loose basalt in clay/sand made things interesting at times. I would have had a heck of a time getting one down from up there if I got one. Hunting this stuff means almost the whole stalk would be on my belly and slow. I've gotten dang close to antelope doing that when there was little or no cover. Just a lot of mean cactus to watch for especially the ones that camouflage themselves. Have to take pictures of those next time.

500 feet on 63 yr old legs is not an easy task! I'd just sit there and swoon... 680 feet above sea level-- to 6400... or even 5800...nah... I'd be bent over pukin! Been there, done that on my 1st Westward Ho the wagon trip to live in MT on Mt. Capers, WY... Could NOT figure out how I came down with the "flu" being at a Conoco picnic!

Duh! Altitude sickness. Rather avoid that and I was in a lot better shape at 30 than 64!

It's amazing to me loving the outdoors, how you can shift geography a bit in this amazing country, and BOOM...you're up against things you have no clue how to handle... loose basalt/clay& sand, camo catcus, or when in MT, frost biting your lungs pushing a car in -25* in just 2" of snow!

You be careful out there and edumcate us tinhorns!

Found out that a couple of guys got two rams off this cone. This is the biggest. My bosses son said he saw two more that were bigger than this one. Think I'll spend more time on one of the other cones that's a lot harder to access and is a bunch higher.

BEnson,

Send me that pic, will ya?

I only saw them briefly years back on some outdoor show... I wanted to study it some. Beautiful critter!

You remember someday I want to come and fall far, far behind trying to keep up with you out there and I gotta know what they LOOK LIKE anyway!

Thanks, B.
