I will need some assisatace with posting pics, I just can not seem to get it right.  Anyway, here is my story;

I got a late start tonight, spooked 2 while walking in. Then, I did not even go to "my spot", the wind in that funnel was wrong, so I made my stand elsewere about 25 yards off a spot on a steep hillside where there is a good trail and the leaves have been worked up real good by deer looking for acorns. Maybe 15 - 20 minutes later, a fawn comes down the trail and looks back. I grab my bow, ( I am sitting sitting on the ground next to a tree ) and slowly start to draw. She runs on trail and flies down hill, on her heals is momma running the trail, NOT going down hill. I whistled while drawing, she slowed and it just felt right ... I let go, the arrow streaked 30 yards to her, I saw the arrow go in, and heard the melon dropping hollow sound of a good chest hit. She ran away, then down hill to a 23 acre set aside field, fell over dead. She lived about 20 - 30 seconds after the hit. I have pics of the blood trail, sparse, I hit her high. She broke both ends of my arrow while running - 7 inches of flecth on one side and a lot of arrow with broadhead on the other. Farther down the tail, the shaft inside her was thrown out. The best part ... I was using my OWL bow. Wood bow, wood arrow, 2 blade STOS head, Trad is awesome man. One last thing, I forgot my glove and arm gaurd ( long story )so I went bare fingers. What a great way to spend a cold afternoon in the woods.

Great story. Those late season deer make it even tougher. Going "bare" and with a self bow...cool indeed!  :cool:    :thumbsup:

Owl bows are amazing.  I shot one of Ed's bows once or twice and I'm still trying to figure out how to make a primative styled bow that'll handle like that.

30 yards, all right! Love hearing of game taken at a distance greater then 20 yards. So many have a hard time dealing with that.    :bigsmyl:
