I have heard of alot of people not using string silencers on a Hill bow.  Can this be done with FF with out the twang of the string.  I tried my Hill without silencers and really liked how it shot.  Seemed alot smoother just some twang at the end.  Right now my arrow are only 9GPI but will be getting a new set hopefully around 11GPI.

With a "skinny," 8-10 strands of D-10, with 16 strand padded loops, you can. Dacron is still a lower tone though.

WESTBROOK

I shoot a pretty thin FF, they are very quiet but have that little twang at the end, probably bothers me more than the animals. I put in 2 yarn ball the size of a golf ball, and they are silent. Make them myself out of off the shelf wool yarn.

Like WESTBROOK said,it is pretty quiet, but the residual twang likely bothers me more than the deer.  I put silencers on all my bows, mostly out of habit and I enjoy the looks.  It does make a quiet bow even quieter.

I don't use them on my Hill, makes them shockey.

I don't use anything on my Tembo. I have a 12 strand D97 string and it is 99.5% quiet.

+1
except mine is not a HH Tembo - same string and count though.

ChrisM, I believe that once you shoot those  heavier arrows you will see a difference in the sound.  Mine are around 10.5 gr. and if my release is correct, there is barely any sound - no twang.  You may have to play with the brace height a little, too.

Brace height is an individual thing, but I have experimented up to 7", and finally settled on 6 5/8". Seems to work well for me.
