I was looking at centaur's battle ax head and wanted some opinions... performance, flight, setup, etc. Mainly wanted to hunt whitetails but wasn't sure if I had enough bow to get a complete pass thru.

I just shot an 80 lbs doe with the big game head and a 47lbs bow at 10 yards right in boiler room and still had 16" of arrow sticking out. The arrow hit with very load crack. She drop in 35 yards but no blood trail. The broadhead itself is awesome and after some work I got it razor sharp but 47lbs was a little too light maybe but then there are 100 things going on in every shot.

Is the big game head 1 3/4in? Did you have a single or double bevel? I'm thinking of using a single bevel.

Whipbow, how heavy of an arrow do you shoot? did you hit bones on the way in and/or out? I think that 47# bow is plenty on a deer!!

I've been using Jim's Big Game heads for 2 seasons now. I took 2 does last yr-died within sight from my stand-and 4 deer this yr. They leave some amazing blood trails. I use the left wing, single bevel heads on my 2018 Legacy arrows. They fly great for me. I think Jim recommends 2020, but I had quite a few of the 2018s around and the arrows fly well, so... I'm shooting a Centaur 53# bow also. The heads are sharp out of the package, but I have been trying to get them sharper. I think the angle of the blade has make the heads feel not as "sharp" as other heads that I have used. Jim's broadheads are definitely well made and will be on the ends of my arrows for a long time. Jim's bows aren't too bad, also. LOL! Peace!

My arrows came in at 580 grains. The broadhead is a double bevel. I think it was one of those shots it must have hit 2 ribs in and 2 ribs out. I still have those heads on my arrows and plan on trying them out on another deer.

just checking this thread, i shot a nice size doe the other day with a 49# bow and broke 3 ribs and head made it through, it was ace express.  but as already stated every shot a hundred things happen.  almost all sharp heads are good as long as shot is placed in boiler room.  i have used these and they are good

Well.....how much bow ya got?

And, what's the weight of your arrows?

I'm currently shooting 54#-58# recurves. My arrows are around 680gr for both weight bows. I shot a big doe with the 54# and 4-blade zwickey delta and had very good penetration.I really like the deltas but also thought the centaurs looked good.

49@27 widow pl and 550 grain arrow therabout...

Raging Water

The Battle Axe are very durable and keep their edge. I shot some thru 4 sheets of sheet metal backed by 1/4 plywood. Super penetration.

I posted a video, a while back, but it got taken down. Perhaps it wasn't Trad Bow Hunting enough and the mods did not care for it. It was all about the penetration of the broadheads and not Hunting with them.
