I have a chance to trade into a Asbell Ramhunter Longbow and i am having a hard time finding any info on the bow, the bow is a 56# so it is a little heavy for me but are these something people are looking for and might i be able to trade this out for a lighter weight all i could find were old prices on them and haven't seen anything recent i would have about $550 in it

Armand, I used my Ramhunter to take my first bear last year on Bear Quest IV with Tommy Phillips.  I personally believe that $550 is a lot to have invested in one, unless it will be your 'go to' longbow.  Keep us posted.  Thanks

I have had one since they came out.  It is a really nice bow.  Mild R/D and trapazoidal cross section in the limb (narrower on belly side, which is opposite of how BW trapped their LAG).  It is like the Bighorn recurves to me in that they are not the fastest bow, but very smooth and little to no handshock.  If I remember correctly they sold for like 250-275 new.  I agree that 550 might be a little high unless it is like new shape and you just had to have it.  Looking at it as a bow to trade into something else, I think that I would not give that for it.  Good luck.

I just got one this week!  It's a sweet little 70#@27" bow and shoots a beautiful arrow.  I traded a Northern Mist Classic for it but they don't make a bow "Anywhere" that I would pay $500.00 for even if it came with somebody to shoot it.

I would love to have one but I'm not going to pay that much......

Armand,

I used to own a Ramhunter LB years ago; custom ordered it from Bighorn when Asbell still owned it.  If my memory is correct I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $550 back then.  So I guess you could make an argument that accounting for inflation a used Ramhunter my still be worth $550 today.  Personally..I would not give that much for a used one, especially if it's not quite right for you.  I'd pass.

You can buy a new custom ordered Howard Hill longbow for that kind of money (and have in about 3-4 weeks).  I shot an Asbell Ramhunter longbow years ago and like my Hills better.  Too much money for it--maybe $350 tops if in really nice shape.

I bought a used one in excellent shape for 225.00 killed My biggest Trad buck with it.

I messed up and gave it to My son in law and He loves it. Now He won't give it back.
