This year's elk arrows are Lodgepole pine and with a 160 grain Ace come to around 650 grains out of my 62# Hill Longbow. Also have some boo that shoot well which are 600 grains finished weight.

Ok, I have opinions.  For me, I like long Hill style bows for a few reasons. Quiet without silencers, forgiving (string angle and pinch), durable, and lightweight and I like the heaviest draw weight I can shoot comfortably and for me that is around 60 pounds.

These are not necessarily short brim,  but they are very soft and the brim will collapse and not get in the way,  or you can pre curl it out of the way ..........
Maine Crusher ......  great quality made in Maine USA.  After I got my first one,  I bought 2 more right away.

I'm over here in Frederick west of you.  Tony is good people and you'll find more like him as the Traditional Bowhunters of Md group is quite active around your way.   :archer2:

It's a blog that Nate Steen does. He has a very good and simple video on sharpening two blade broadheads.

But yes, I sharpen my broadheads on the the arrow shaft.

I watched that video and got some of your old broadheads sharper than any previous attempt. Not even close. I'm pretty good at getting an edge on a knife, but I had been having a time getting control of the broadhead and making consistent strokes. Thank you for that. Simple and smooth I like it.

I got one of these recently and I'm happy with it.  And it's made in USA.
