PowWow / Re: Arrow wraps?

Quote from: M60gunner on September 05, 2025, 11:53:36 AMI use wraps. I used to dip but for a couple of reasons including the cost of Bohning paints these days I stopped. I did spray carbons and woods but if it's to hot out the paint dries before it flows out. I buy wraps from One Stringer as well as cut my own. I also crest my own. I prep the aluminum and carbon shafts by wiping down with Acetone. I use a mouse pad to roll them on. I use Fletch Tite glue or Gorilla SG in blue cap bottle to fletch.
M60 - Are the arrows in your picture hand crested, or are those custom wraps? They look great!

Quote from: TRich on August 16, 2025, 11:50:16 AMA little off topic, but how did Art and others shoot 3/4 under without snap on nocks? Thumb on the nock?
Not sure I read all there books and seen Art's Alaskan movie they never went to detail, they killed a bunch of lions in Africa

I've been using the grizzly bruins double bevel for a couple of years now.  They leave a pretty good blood trail regardless of being a two blade.  They are easy to sharpen as said above with the stay sharp system.

Quote from: Tedd on August 22, 2025, 09:38:08 PMOn another subject...I don't like to see the 3 under/fixed gap/point aiming, passionately promoted on the intertube to new hunters as the best and only way to shoot. While archery has all types of shooters and many may like that style. It's not the only way.

For me, the escape to less technical and more fluid side of things keeps me happy. Point and shoot, kill deer.
I could not agree more.  I like the control of split also for hunting.  Try to shoot reverse cant with 3under.  Bad things can happen in hunting situations when the arrow is allowed to do its own thing.  I also don't need to stress about 2 nock points..the perfect nock fit, etc.

This year's elk arrows are Lodgepole pine and with a 160 grain Ace come to around 650 grains out of my 62# Hill Longbow. Also have some boo that shoot well which are 600 grains finished weight.
