It has been a while since I have killed a Pennsylvania archery buck. My last one was in 2009, my first year hunting with trad gear and was a little 4 point (I was 16 so still on the junior license). That all changed yesterday at 1:30.

What started out as being a normal day where I got out of stand around 10 turned into my first ever all day sit and boy did it ever work out. Right at ten, I had a nice buck and a doe come in and they hung around between 25-30 yards for over an hour. They finally moved off below me but were within 75 yards the entire time. At 1:30, the doe finally made a break for it and ran by me at ten yards. The buck took a closer path and stopped in front of me sharply quartering away at 5 yards. I picked a spot and drew. As soon as I hit anchor, I released and watched the arrow bury into my spot. Because of the angle height of the stand, I was sending the arrow right down into the chest cavity. I was concerned about a blood trail because there was a lot of arrow sticking out and I wasn't sure if it punched through.

That fear was quickly diminished however as the blood started pouring out shortly into the track. The buck went less than 75 yards and is my biggest buck to date. We are estimating him at 3.5 years old because of his mass, body size and humped nose.

I want to say a huge thanks to Dave Turning (Trux Turning) for agreeing to make this awesome bow for me. It worked wonderfully and didn't give this buck a chance.

The bow is 50@27. I used Easton gamegetter 500's tipped with 170 grains of Grizzly and adapter. The bow worked like a charm and the grizzly created the best blood trail I have ever had.
