this evenings hunt

This evening  I sat in my  Pac seat and watched  a nice buck sneak into my set up he came in cautious as if he knew I was there .I had to talked to myself when I felt my pulse quicken. At one point I began to start my draw but the buck looked in my direction and I froze. Just then a Fox Squirrel started his descent down a Hickory Tree which diverted the buck's attention; and the cedar shaft was on its way to the target.
I work up a scenario like this it seems to prepare you for the actual hunt better than anything.

good idea. i do this while stump shooting...setting up in my mind and stalking closer to the stump and actually "hunt" the stump (bottle trash or whatever even target on 3d range) to get ready. Thanks for sharing!! Wish i had a setup like that tho  :D

Great shot! I like to do this as well. The other day, I got to have an actual hunt, with heart pounding and adrenalin flowing. The prey was a bird seed thieving ground squirrel that has had a hair cut once before, and is even a little too crafty for my English setter.
As I was getting ready to walk out the back door, I saw him making his way towards the feeder. I immediately turned about face and strung up my osprey. I snuck out the front, crept around the side of the garage, and as luck would have it, the little booger was stuffing his cheeks underneath the feeder. When he'd put his head down, I'd make a slow move to get into position. One last time, and the arrow was on its way. The resounding thud told me that his luck had run out, and my blunt found its mark, perfectly behind the shoulder at 17 yards.
First arrow I'd shot in a couple days, and that hunt was amazingly fun, and the very best of practice.  I can't wait for deer season!
