Believe me if it weren't for the QDMA plan on this farm I would have shot this deer in a heartbeat. I'm still having the nightmares. Here he was from my tree. I think I could have killed him with a fly swatter. Some of you all have seen these sorry for the duplicates. My therapist said it was good for healing.

Tom, in your defense, the brute doesn't look as many inches on the hoof as in hand.

My name is kennym and I havent killed a buck in six years now.  :p   Gonna have to shoot one to see how it feels to walk up and grab an antler....

I tell my bro we are seriously underestimating inches when we pass em....
Stay sharp, Kenny.

You are very right Kenny. I had him under me twice last year and told many of my buds that this deer was in the high 150's, boy was I off. The deer on this place get year round nutrition and their body weights are enormous. That in turn makes their racks look small on the hoof. He is also very narrow adding to the miscalculations. If I would have known he was that big I would have let the air out of him and asked my buddy for forgiveness.

Enough about my sad stories guys. Sorry to get this off track post those cool cam picts.

Here's a one of a kind that I'm sure will never happen again. Before anybody asks, I have no clue what these are, I caught them on my trail camera about a week before the November opener in northern Missouri '06. I just think they are kinda neat and I'm always trying to guess what it could be. Good reminder that some strange things happen out there in them woods at night.

Here's a deer on the same camera, same spot for size comparison.

Looks like casper the ghost on the left and a lighted parachute for the other one. Seriously, I don't have a clue.

The deer that Kentucky TJ passed, sure looked like a "quality deer" to me.

archer66- Why did you leave that nice shed out there in the woods? Did you just want to see what would happen to it?

Yup...I left it there for almost 3 months and got hundreds of pictures of deer, coyotes, racoons, and squirrels.  The squirrels didn't leave much of it behind.

Yeah they make pretty quick work of sheds around here and I'm lucky to find one at all, and if I do it's rare to find it in perfect shape without teeth marks on it. The squirrels are super thick around here where I live! I've been saving them for just in case the economy gets worse, I might need to rely on them for a steady protein diet.

Now this is an odd bunch!

Never seen a raccoon and a turkey feeding together.

Turkey and deer yes.

Raccoons and deer yes.

But never a coon and a turkey together.  And plus a couple of deer. lol!

Corn makes everybody happy in the woods! lol!

I've watched this deer the last 3 years. I'll try and pull the pictures. Two years ago he was a wide skinny antlered 6-pointer. Last year he was a wide skinny antlered 8-pointer. This year I'd like my oldest son to get a shot him. If not, I'll see what he looks like next year!
