What Carbon Express shaft

I've been playing around with the dynamic spine calculator and have come up with some different arrow combos so I thought I'd throw it out there to you and get some opinions.

I'm shooting a 64" Toelke Whip Classic longbow (r/d design) cut to center, with a ff string.  Bow is 51#@28" and I'm pulling 29.5".  I'm very open about head weight, I have many different broadheads in all sorts of weights.  I'll have 8" onestringer wraps and 3-5" feathers on my arrows.  I'd like to stick with the "standard" aluminum inserts.

What CE Express arrows would you choose with what broadhead setup (only need the weight, I'll choose the head    ).  Thanks a million fellas!

I'd say CX150 and probably 250gr total tip weight.

I hope you are finding some value in the dynamic calculator.  Here is what I would start with for your setup:

A CE250 Heritage shaft at 31.25" BOP with a std insert and 160 grain point of your choice.

I bet they will fly great!

I'm shootin a 53#@28" d/r cut 1/8" past center  with CX Heritage 250s 29" long with 235 up front.

(A slow drill and a file will turn 250 gr field pts to any grain you want too)

Im with Stu on this one, my set ups are very close to yours, {Holmmade Bows by Chad Holm} and 150's are to weak for me, Good Luck ...

Stu, I LOVE the calculator.  I play around with it so much.  Only problem is that I can find about 50 different combos (or more) by playing with length, point weight, etc...  I guess I'm looking for the shaft where I have the most flexibility.  Seems the 250 is what I'm after.  I suppose I could leave em longer and use a lighter point or cut em a little and use a heavier point.

Mike if you leave the 150's full length,you'll get by with less tip weight.

You'll find these shafts are very forgiving, Im surprised at what I can get away with the 250's at my set-ups ...

I shoot 250's from my recurve. 30" arrow, 56 lbs, ff string, 200 grains up front. 600 grain arrow. Flies good.  Stu is right on, but adjust length/point weight to your taste.

Mike, From my experience I think the 150's with a 145 grain head would be perfect. I have some extras and I don't live to far from you. PM me if you want one to try. God bless, Scott.

Like Stu said but I came up with 250's 31" shaft, 100g insert and 125 tip. Bareshaft,field and BH all fly with equal accuracy.

What I find interesting on most of these posts there is an equal split between the 150's and 250's.  
Before using Stu's calculator I was trying the CE test pack and using OL's tuning method.
I could never get the 150 to fly correctly for me and was leaning to the 250.

I have not shot carbon much over the years but bought some CX 150s recently.They are 30.5 inches and have aluminum inserts.My draw is 29.5 to 30 inches.My bows range from 46 # 30 to 58#s at 30.I would characterize the bows as being high performance as far as cast or speed.All have fast flight type strings and lower stand count strings from 6 strands to 12.

I find that my lower weight bows in the 46 to 50#s shoot the 150s well with point weights from 125 to 175.They are weak and also a little lighter than I would like for my heavier bows.I need some 250s for those i believe and like the fact that I can shoot a heavier head on those rigs.I will be getting some 250s for those bows with either the 50 grain or 100 grain insert and then test points fron 125 up to 225.

I just ordered a whip classic, first longbow I have ever shot, is the grip take a while to get use to coming from a recurve? Are you happy with the bow? I currently shoot his TD recurve, hope I didnt hijack your thread

Bob, it is my favorite longbow.  I don't think it takes too much to switch grips.  I shoot mine with a little more heel pressed into the grip, but otherwise I really had no adjustment period.  I'm extremely happy with the bow (it is my 8th or 9th Toelke).  I believe you'll be pleased with it.  Be sure to post some pics when it comes in...Mike

You can shoot either the 150 or the 250 depending on point weight. Check out my add in the sponsor classified. I have a sale on the 250's.
