Help Sharpning Magnus1

Im trying my darndest to get my Magnus1 sharp with little success. Im using a Lansky sharpner, I tried 20 degrees, and when that didnt work out so well I tried 25 degrees. Went to the coarse stone, then medium and fine....I cant seem to get them real sharp. Help

All I do is use the accu-edge they suggest. A few swipes on the factory cut, 2-3 x on ceramic sticks and I shave hair. Never had a problem and is one reason I stay with them.  Too easy to sharpen!

Maybe it is called accu-sharp. . . whatever, it is Mike Sohm's suggestion and used it for 15 years.

I have the Gatco Diamond hone set and finish with the accusharp. They get SCARY very easy.  BILL

I use the accu-sharp on mine and it works real well.

Accu-Sharp or Lansky. Have both and they both work great.  Hair Shaving.

Here is a video I made for my Dad.  I gave him a Lansky last month and made this to show him how to use it. In the video I'm sharpening a knife but it will do an outstanding job on broadheads too.  

When sharpening my 125 gr 2 blade Magnus heads I like to clamp it about center with the jaw touching the ferrel.

Another vote for an accu-sharp type sharpener here. I actually use a Simmons Wheely sharpener, but it all amounts to the same thing.

Two or three good strokes, followed by tw or three light strokes & I'm good to hunt. If I want to shave with 'em, I'll go another few strokes on a crock-stick, but I generally don't bother.

Even Ron (KME) said there is nothing wrong with the Lansky (though his is a better mousetrap).  Could be a number of things.  Dirty stones?  Too much pressure?  Not working the edge enough?  Are you using a marker, and actually seeing a consistent edge?  Have you tried stroping the edge on some cardboard or leather afterwards?  We have also found that the oil is at times too heavy, and use something else (If I remember, something like CRC screw free - check Ron's video).

I've never had a problem sharpening Magnus heads with my Lansky sharpenener. BUT... I do finish it off with a strop and then several strokes on each side with an Accu Sharp.
