Check out the Sponsor's Classifieds, we at Sipsey River are now doing camo dipping.

Looks cool John, what camo pattern are you using and do you have any history on how these finishes hold up in the field?  Will it work on any wood bow?
Thanks, Burnsie

No history yet. We have done about 10 so far. He sprays the bows with same clear finish that many bowyers put on their new bows. I have had 3 of my personal bows dipped. They look great!

I've handled one of these at John's booth at our state shoot and it's definately an excellent finish. Feels like the bow is encased in a plastic shrinkwrap camo finish. Feels tough yet still not too thick as to change the dimensions of even the finer lines like string grooves.

John is a fine fellow to do business with: not only is he very knowledgeable, he steers customers in the direction they need to go, not so much in the direction that will make him the most profit. Very difficult to find both in today's market.

If I ever find a "beater" shawnee riser, I'm sending it to John for the dip process. Glad to see you are offering this as an a'la' carte item John!

As soon as I find a bow to cut in half and make a two piece from I plan on getting you to dip it.I like camoed hunting bows.It covers up all that wood that can distract you when hunting.  :D

rastaman ,That's the burl wood dip on your Adcock riser, there is also a spring and a fall camo dip as well as one that looks like woven carbon fiber.
John has photos of the camo paterns, maybe he will post them when he gets time.

rastaman

i looked at the camo patterns...mine was already a solid would grain that was chipped up.  John let me look at some other stuff he had in stock and i chose the burl wood dip cause it came closer to matching what i already had.  i like it...good job!

Are you going to be at the state shoot in Aug?  Would it be possible to drop a bow off with you and get it shipped when it's done?

Cherokee Scout

We will be there, you can get it to us then, save some shipping.

Do you do the dipping over finish or on a sanded bow?

Thinking about having a set of limbs done for an Orion Curve.  Is there special pricing for us poor bowyers?

Wingnut, it can be done either way. The bow has to be sanded to get a good bond with the base coat but works equally well over bare wood or another finish as long as it is roughened up first.
