Well I have a static release they call it , instead of a follow thru style. Maybe there is a little follow through , does anyone else have this style of rerelease ? It is consistent for me .i heard people say , oh you have to do it this way or else. Don't know been shooting traditional archery maybe 50 years , don't snap shoot and shoot Mediterranean  . Got a solid anchor point .

Static release is more stable during follow through.
Yes I have shot that way most of my life  :archer:

what did he do that was all that he did?

In the static release, or dead release, there is no movement of the body leading up to the release.  Proponents, such as Rick Welch, feel that this lack of movement is an aid to accuracy, like firing a rifle, where every effort is made to keep still until the shot goes off.  Rick has won many championships and taught many students using this method.

However, many more championships have been won and many more students have been taught using the dynamic release.  The dynamic release has the advantage of adding power to the shot because the back muscles are actively moving until the shot goes off.  In hand eye coordination sports like baseball, people learn to be accurate while moving as a necessity.

In the end, this is not a numbers game.  All that matters is what works best for you, not what works best for "most people."  Traditional archery is not like baseball, in that there is no necessity to keep moving, and it is not like shooting a rifle, because the only thing that makes the arrow go is the force of your muscles bending the bow, not gun powder.  Don't be afraid to try new things, because the results might surprise you.
