Nice Osage haul. Just in time for MoJam.  Weather wise too. I've never been there but it's reputation precedes it.

I turned 75 years old today. Hard to comprehend that number but looking forward to the next 25.  :archer2:

.050 to nothing in 8" , 30" lams and i cut about 1.5" off the limb tip. Active tip wedge hits the base of the curl at about 6"- 6.5"

Last night I tried out a new to me braid on a handle wrap. I think I'm gonna have to use it more often it wasn't too bad to do (as long as you don't miss a hole and have to undo half of it). Also had to recut a piece of ostrich for the wrap, tried first with just the ostrich, but it was too thin and stretched too bad. So backed it with 2oz veg tan. Solved the problem but would've made the original piece too short to wrap around all the way. So cut a new one about 5/8" wider. it eats a good amount of lace. About 6' will cover the braid itself and another 2' for the end wraps. My estimate last night couldn't have been any tighter. By the time I did the wrap with the short left over tag, I had about 1/2" of tag left after tying off to trim.

Awesome as usual.
Do you find all the different lace patterns online?

Yuo, either scrolling Facebook and instagram I'll see a neat one or letting YouTube cycle through leather craft videos. Never know what you'll land on that can be used elsewhere. This braid is common on saddle skirts.

Do you cut the braid material or????

I do. I have a couple types of lace cutters and a processor to cleanup the width and thickness. It has an edge beveler too but it doesn't work well. But I start with a whole veg tan goat hide and trim to make it more rounded and start cutting with an Australian stranger at about 5/16" wide. Once it's all cut I wet and stretch the lace so it lays straight. After it dries I'll bundle it up until ready to use. When I have a project I'll cut off what I need then lightly moisten it with a spray bottle so it cuts easier and will clean up both edges making it a bit narrower, then thickness cut it. The beveler on the jig doesn't work well so I skip that step for now. Then I dip dye the bundle. Let the dye dry for a couple hours and rehydrate the leather with some olive oil before starting to braid.

Hello everyone, it's been a few years since I last logged onto the forum. Lately, I've been working on producing my own Bo Tuff laminate. The finished material shows a slightly higher elastic modulus compared to Bearpaw's Bo Tuff. I've already tested it on a crossbow limb where it successfully handled a 121-pound draw. My next step will be to build a bow in order to evaluate its performance under real shooting conditions.

I also made a short bow with a black locust belly and a sinew back, and adjusted its tiller by adding backing strips.
