Thanks for all of the input.

Over the weekend I glued up a 52" version with .001 taper and a tip wedge. I haven't checked weight on it yet and I may be a touch long on brace height but it's the look I was going for. [attachment=1]

I really like that look too. Nice job.
Skeater who?

Crooked Stic

How long is the riser on the 52 in ?

So the riser is FHLB only shorter?. Will you share you stack once you get the weight on it.
Be interesting to know if it will have good manners being that short.

Sure thing. I hope to check weight tomorrow after work.

52", 7 3/8" BH, 14 5/8" riser, even tiller, 52#@28" with a .260 stack, 1 9/16" at the fadeouts, 3/4" at the nocks. After I narrow the limbs and tips a tad it should be right where I wanted it. I like the profile at brace and the way the limbs are bending but I don't like the bulge shape of the riser on the back. Next one will definitely get a different riser shape.

Man that is bending good. You say 1 9/16 at fades. Did you use 1 3/4 glass or typo?

And when you shorten the limb did you keep the same reflex. as the longer version?

I cut my shelf 3/16" past center so I use 1 3/4" materials and offset the quiver side of the riser for extra meat in the shelf area. This is the longest version I can make on this form. The other was a 48" bow off this same form. I don't think I want to go any shorter than 52" with this geometry.

Crooked Stic

I see. But if you used a G10 Ibeam you would be okay for strength.

This way I can keep my widths the same and have material on hand to build a longbow or a recurve whenever I feel like it. Plus, my forms are all built with 1 3/4" LVL beams. I don't build anything over 50 pounds so strength has never been an issue.

Looks purty good to me...  Glad you got what you are looking for...  Things may change when you go sanding on those limbs...  I would map them and shoot them through the chrony before you sand them and then compare the differences later...  It takes time but it's the only way to learn how the limbs work and how to work the limbs...

JGR1269

Got a couple coats of finish and wet sanded a couple times. One more coat after its lettered. Finished out at 43#@28". Draws smooth out to 28 inches. It's gaining 2.5# per inch out to 28" and 3# from 28-29". I'll make a couple minor riser shape changes on the back side if I build another one. I haven't shot an arrow out of it yet but overall I'm pleased with how it came out. It'll make a great gift for someone. [attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3]

Mad Max

I used some Boo flooring (2 lams tapered and  kerf cut) on the form to keep the back from going forward so much

I would rather fail at something above my means, than to succeed at something  beneath my means

I made a new profile jig for the next one. I didn't like the transition area from the fades so I made it a more gradual arc.

Gotta say that's one of the few non-recurves I like.  The shape is almost like the the ancient Assyrian, except for the contoured, shelf cut riser.  If it had a plain flat backed no-shelf riser I'd call it perfect.

That bow sure looks good. Do you have any chrono speed results. Would be interesting to see what such a short bow would do.
