Nice Dan I know **** is going to love it.
Pat I don't know if a HHB swap bow has ever been made. But I don't think a persimmon swap bow has been made.

Dan Landis

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Kelly, I hope **** likes it.  I've tried HHB as my first attempt 2 years back to back and both broke before completion.

Pat, what didn't you like about the persimmon?  I was going to cut a tree this spring, but may have to rethink it now.

Pat B

Dan, I built this persimmon bow for a longer draw and I only pull 26" so it seemed real slow to me. I'm not a speed demon by any stretch but I can usually tell from the first shot if a bow is a shooter or a good shooter and this just seems like a shooter but not a good shooter. It also took some set even after a heavy belly temper. I'm so used to using osage that I may have just over stressed this without thinking. I've seen persimmon bows that had no set and were real good shooters so it might just be me. I guess it is more of a feeling than anything.
Maybe I'll send both out when the shipping time comes. d;^)

Thanks Pat, the tree I'm looking at is only about 3" or so in diameter and would yield a stave with a fairly high crowned back, so I think I'll pass on it for now and look for something a little bigger so I can at least have a better chance of making a "good shooter".

Dan that looks great. I think your stitching and handle lol just fine. Well done

Got mine glued up and rough shaped today. I hope to have it ready for finish next weekend. Woods are Hawaiian Koa and Wenge with bamboo core. I'll post pics when I get the picture posting thingy figured out.

I understand there is always more to learn..... but after looking at the recent bunch of pics I realize I should have joined a beer swap instead. Very humbling show of work guys. Great Job !!
