John,

I've been actually moving from this style, to a similar style vut with some deflex built into the riser and I think it solves some of the stack and overstressed look.

I'll get some pics up soon.

I know you were concerned about having to get a good fit between the curve belly side and a built up handle portion, but if you use thin lams like you did on this one, they bend to match the belly side and problem solved. Same with the powerlam/riser block.

I just glue up the thin lams on the form so they get the right curve, then shape the backing side and then glue thebow up ... no grinding curves to match.

I saw a pic of one like that Ben...boo belly?

At first I thought it was of the same design..then I saw the deflex...whole new can of worms there...lol

Actually, I tried to use the very same lams from this bow to bend to fit a prior bow...they were too thick. If I pressed them in there they tried to straighten out the deflex of the bow. The bow was a "standard" tri with a very R/D layout.

I can see how having the thick powerlam/riser would really help keep the bow's shape when trying to press in the slats...and using thinner slats wouldn't hurt either.

I know all about the wife syndrome, on my second wife now... That's why I built a bow shop 30 feet from the house out back. And I am the Boss out there in that bow shop..

Until the door opens... LOL  :)

....I guess that's just not very nice.
I'm not into Wife bashing.
We all know how much worse off we'd be without them...mine really is my better half.
Normally it's a good thing when I get "bothered"...

...is she still behind me?

But John, we can poke fun at them here, and hope they never read it.. LOL

I also have a very awesome wife. My best friend and soul mate. Heck she even bought me a $750.00  drum sander for x-mas this past year.. Even though I did set her up by buying her a new PC right before x-mas..  :)

I've got that stuff as well as Muscle Shoals flint, but today was the first time it all clicked.  Tomorrow will be another try.

But she's taking shape..

Here's my mid limb ratio...
The belly is rounded..just can't tell in this pic.

Kinda looking like a bow now...

Funny, while roughing the grip out, there was a "bump" in the middle. While testing the feel, I realized that bump fit the contour  of my thumb knuckle to my thumb palm area crease about perfectly....may just keep it there..

I've shot the bow 101 times tonight ( little sore, haven't been shooting much lately )

She's holding together.
hardly any shock at all.
The only other bow I have to shoot right now is my 1st BBO. I strung it up to compare....This tri makes that bbo feel like a bucking bronco...lol I know I tillered this tri better as far as timing goes. This one I followed the offset line..the bbo I didn't know about doing that, pulled from center, and didn't follow any line at all. Also this tri had WAY thinner tips.

Tiller seems to be staying pretty good.
I'll check it again after another 101.

It seems the bottom limb is losing a tad of deflex at the tips.
..might have to even them out....

anyway..that's what I did today...

I did that once without thinking, and cut it on the wrong side   :scared:    :scared:

Got some more work done on that bow I started last weekend.  It's to the point where I can shoot it, so I had to play with it a bit today.  Lots of sanding left to do, but everything is pretty much to shape.

ouch..lol

I almost did a similar thing on this one...

I made a paper template of the grip shape/location to trace onto the bow. Traced it on one side just fine..Flipped the bow over and traced it on the other side...UPSIDE-DOWN.

While looking at the "wronged" side I started sanding a bit on the belt sander..looked over to check the other side and....   :scared:

lol..it doesn't take much of a mistake to really mess ya up sometimes....lol
