I was told of another I had missed so we are down to 14 bows needed, and I know of one in the mail and it my have gotten to its new home already.

inksoup

just to let you know my swap builder.

the beauty did not received to me yet. kelly asked me if i received and i told him "not yet"

maybe the sender should check with tracking number let kelly or me (  :D  ) know about the result. i did not want to see it loose in the mail.

best.
these are not the droids you are looking for.

SportHunter

Cut nocks and got the bow to low brace. Looking good so far, happy not to hear the dreaded crack.  :bigsmyl:

SportHunter

Tillered out to 14" today. A few more sessions and we might have a bow.

So what's the latest news? How many people are left? Has everyone that hasn't shipped yet been accounted for? Not many posts on here lately. Just wondering what's goin on.

KellyG

I have contacted all who has not shipped and waiting on replies from a few. I will get hold of stiks this weekend and see if any have contacted him.

We will not let anyone not get a bow.

Here is who I am tracking not received. Let me know if this is wrong.

yup, still waiting. my plan A bow should be done in time for my backup elk bow.
After hunting season I will get some supplies lined up for next year's swap.I may be a little crazy, but I can't wait for next year already

kevin_h

You are not crazy...I am already pulling some wood out of the storage rack..
My idea is an all-bamboo takedown recurve..
But instead of gluing the handle section on as an extra layer, I would form the handle in the same manner as I form the re-inforced static recurve tips...once its all finished, cut it in half and give the handle the fiberglass takedown procedure...

That's the plan....

Sounds good to me! I'm thinking of a snub nose like Trux built, or make a new form that I could do glass and wood laminate bows on.

kevin_h

I wish I could do glass...but I will that part of bow building to others...it seems that some of you fellas have a real talent for the laminated limbs...some of those Hill style long bows have me drooling like fool..

Haha, If you guys are crazy then so am I.

Already got a form glued up from some 1x10 pine, 3 layers thick, 6' long. And got the profile marked out on it. Really hapy with how it's coming along. I'm pretty sure already that my victim for next year will be getting a bamboo-maple-ipe tri-lam, forward handle bow. 66" ttt. Doing it in my most recent style with the riser sandwiche in between the bamboo backing and the core/belly lams just like the glass guys do it ... If I really keep on top of it maybe I'll even glue up a blank ahead of time too so I'm really ready to go.

Don't think I have the balls to cut one in half and take-down it back together. Wish I did cause it  seems awesome.
