Thanks for the great comments guys.

Well, not much to do today, except wait until the urac sets hard on the brush nocks, but I did have some time to start scrapping the handle area down to a good starting point.

Wow, amazing work guys!  Dan, what kind of wood is that?  Did you dye the back red?

Man, with every new pic posted, I feel like I need to keep stepping it up here.  Most everything on this bow so far is a first for me -- the spliced limb veneers, grinding them myself, and now the riser. Dang curves took me about three days of sanding and touching to get it to fit perfectly.

The walnut has some real pretty figuring in it.  You can't see it at all in that pic, but you can in this one.  I just pulled it out of the hot box about 5 minutes ago.

So now can I finally get started on making the bow?

One of two things will happen; it'll either work or it won't.

Nice bow Dan.  I usually don't care much for artwork on a bow, but that looks really cool.

It amazes me what you wood bow guys can do with wood like that.  I simply don't have the patience to work with that sort of character.

Dan , nice bow!

Alright I made it out to the shop tonight and made some progress. Looks like I will be doing Bolivian RW for the riser and veneers with padauk for the accents. Hopefully I will be able to get more work done on Sunday.

I got a box with some nice stuff from Kenny, now I can start with my swap bow. Prepared the wood for the riser. It's going to be cocobolo with osage accent.

Andy that material is awesome.

Dan Landis

Thanks again for the great comments.

Cabbage, it's osage, the lighting was poor when I took the pics.  Yes I stained the back, used powdered Rit fabric dye disolved in denatured alcohol.  That riser looks great.

Ralph, Andy  those wood combos will sure make some great looking bows.

KellyG

Man did or glass guys join in then previous years? But man some really nice bows being made. Oh this is a great year for the swap for sure.
