Keep warm....

Wow, nice work gentlemen. Amazing. Next year I want to be the first done so the competition doesn't make it look so amateur.

This year I've been slammed at work. If its any indication, I'm just now catching up on 15 pages of the thread. Usually I check it multiple times a day.

I have made some progress in getting set up to grind my own lams and I am making an improved form. Bow will be cherry lams I harvested on my neighbor's property. I think. I'd like to use all woods I harvested myself if possible. Maybe some black locust in there too. Or walnut?  Not sure if that has seasoned enough though. Choices. Damn, now I feel like I'm back to where I started.....

Lotsa good stuff going on here guys!

Well, i got my osage fence post to shooting stage, but it came in about 10# too light for my recip, so on to the next plan.  I've got two staves roughed out, tryna decide on doing an elm recurve or an elm r/d bow.  The one that may become an r/d has knots on either side of center, so i laid it out with a 10" handle/fade area to keep them out of the limbs.  So i'm thinking of sawing it in half, and splicing it into deflex (and effectively shortning the 10" to 8") and tempering the limbs into reflex.  Or maybe a molly....

maybe ******** will let me know which one.

Bob,

Just about talked myself out of falling in luv with it. I walked into the closet in my my bow room and turned to see a piece of wood I had forgoten about.

Guess you can say I tucked it back for the right time. It's a pieces of Kingwood I refused to put in the shop to keep me from jumping on it in a laps of willpower.

Once I get to shoot the trade bow afew more times I'll know for sure if I want to build one for myself or not.

Troy that looks like a second bow, and it has blemishes all over it. Can't believe you are going to send it out for a swap bow. Just send her to me and I'll give her a good home:)

Very impressive work as always, Troy.

Nice bow Troy. It is a lot of snow out this way luckily no ICE just snow. I have been chasing a ring on one of my staves. It is really thin ringed but not to hard to chase so far. The good thing about thin rings you don't scrap as much to get through one.

4est trekker

Troy, that's a very good looking bow...excellent flow and attention to detail.  Did you stipple the grip with a rotary tool?

Holy smokes!!!  That bow is wicked Troy!  You've got my address correct right?? I'll be looking at the porch every day now along with all the other bowswappers.

Troy, I'm positive that I or anyone else would be happy with that bow or any of the ones you made before it.

4est,

Yep, use a drimel to do the stippleing. Ball end bit and twenty minutes is all it takes.
