7 July I believe is the ship by date.

I have to start a plan b bow.

It will be a hickory long bow. My recurve my have developed a fatal flaw. I maybe able to back it and save it. But just in case I will start a long bow out of hickory.

Sorry to hear that Kelly, it was looking great. The hickory stave looks ready and able.

I hope you can save the recurve Kelly. It's a nice looking bow.

Dang Kelly I hate to hear that about your bow.  I hope you can save it.  I've enjoyed watching it take shape.

Stiks-n-Strings

You'll have that on those big jobs Kelly.

Looks good so far as the pics though, I always break a recurve before i get that far

So I roughed out and floor-tillered some black locust back in January.  But I'm still a bit unsure of myself with it.  Is it fully dry yet?  Will I be able to keep from fretting the belly?

Decided to go with one of my hickory staves that I've had up in the barn rafters for a couple of years now.  Much more in my comfort zone.

First: I've decided I'm never leaving the bark on anything that I don't have to.  The hickory I peeled green was just that -- peeling.  This thing took me forever.

It's also not as pretty as Kelly's stave, I've got a little more character in at least one of the limbs.  Anyhow, I got it roughed and floor tillered this weekend.  Tonight I hope to apply a little heat and work out some of the twist and a bit of crook.  I do like working with hickory.  Maybe because it's plentiful enough that I don't feel pressure?

Anyhow, I want to get this done without any more procrastination.  I leave for vacation on July 3rd, and want enough time to make a plan B bow in case something goes bad at the last minute with this one.

Wow Andy!! That is cool- I never thought to build up a riser loke that before.

Swissbow

Actually it was not my idea. Carlo asked me if I could build him a longbow with a forward riser that has the same feel like his black widow recurve. This is what he finally got...

When I strung her up the first time the forward riser just popped off, because the riser is bending quite a bit at the fades. But now, after three more bows with that kind of riser and several tries, I think I know how to do it that no bad things happen. At least I hope so, otherwise ********* ***** will experience a bad surprise when he gets the bow... ha ha ha   ;-)

Got a sweet package in the mail today. I'll try to get some pics up in a few days, busy with kids activities for a while. I did string her up and shoot it a few times, I want to thank D. You did an amazing job. Very quick, silent, and accurate. Many thanks! :0)

Kelly, mine is going in the mail tomorrow, I'll contact yo with the tracking number.
