Here's a couple more pics. This bow is as good as done. Very quick and especially quiet for a takedown recurve with out silencers. There is some room for improvement, but being my first curve/take down and only second glass bow I am very pleased. Gonna shoot it some more tomorrow, put finished lettering on it, then show it off to my buddies and it will be ready for the mail.

Great looking yew bow Kris, very nice. Perry that recirve is working OT and I love it. Very nice, both of you.

Kelly if your asking? I say snip at least 1" off each static and make the next steps easier for yourself. Once the string angle is changed the benefit is gained and the extra length of the static only adds dead weight and string alignment issues. Shortening it wont hurt your intended draw length.

KellyG

Thanks pearl I might end up doing that. But the are not static they do flex and should uncurl a bit. I think I will save shortening the bow for last. I am not off that much and I am sure that twist need to come out. It is there even unstrung.

vanillabear?

Lookin' good fellas.
Thanks Dan, very nice of you to say that   :)

Just an update on my trade bows status:

I have 4 glass bows ready for the spray booth but they are all 3-5 pounds over my recipient's weight.  I will build a couple more over the next two-three weeks, spray them all at the same time, and ship it shortly after that.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Nice job, Perry. Love the grain on the limbs.

KellyG

that is a sweet looking  bow for sure perry.

Ok here are some pic of what I am dealing with.

the bow is braced about .5" off the handle.

one limb the string tracks is good.

The other it is hard to brace it for the string slips off the side.

My thinking is I need to heat this limb and just twist it out. I will do that later tonight; unless someone says stop you fool you are about to really screw up!

Well it is done now. I heated up and it is cooling now. Seems to have lined up better we shall see. I will let it sit for the week and try and brace it again this weekend.

I'm one of those who signed up but hasn't been posting much since.  Between two boys in track, one in baseball, one girl in gymnastics and the second in BPA, orchestra, and harp, it feels like I haven't had a moment to myself in months.  However, with school winding down for the kids, many of the activities are ending and I see some potential free time in the near future.  I do have my stave cut out to outline and I've removed some of the bulk.   I now need to get it bending.  I'll try to post a couple of updates pics in the near future.

Also, I got back late last night from the state track meet for my oldest boy (talk about heartbreak - dropped baton costing his 4 x 100 team a likely state championship) and I found a trade bow waiting for me!  Thank you Red Hill!  The bow looks great!  I'll try to get it strung up and pictures taken in the near future.

Again, thank you my friend.

Oh, man! I coached track for 13 years and I've had that happen to my relay teams a few times! That's a bummer, but... I only have tow sons but they kept me busy when they were younger. Wife and I have done countless activities and events also.
Glad you received the bow. Hope it suits you and works out for you.

Who ever is getting Steve's bow believe me it is well worth the wait!

I'm trying to start a new business and have beem very busy also. I already have a full time job and a teenage boy plus my husband farms along with is full time job and needs my help at times. Whew!

Things have slowed down, school is almost over and I'm finding more time to work on my bow.

BTW, Kelly, I am impressed!

Good job on taking your time with that curve Kelly, I think it takes much more effort And PATIENCE with the big hooks like that. Going to be a really cool bow when you finish up.

David Flanrey

Okay folks, my trade bow shipped this morning by the good ole U.S. postal service.  ********** look out here it come!
