Psych, when we were pretty young, my younger brother and I along with our two cousins from next door, caught a buzzard in a steel trap. We set 4 single spring victor No.1.5 traps around a dead 'possum. After about three days that 'possum was pretty ripe. When we went to the back of the pasture to "check" our set, we had a buzzard! We tied braided nylon twine to its feet and let it fly about 10' over head before pulling in down and starting all over. We thought we'd train it, but it escaped when our mammaw ran out her back door screaming and scared the buzzard so bad my older cousin couldn't hold on any longer... Yeah, we were young and stupid and I have seen one up close and personal. Their puke stinks to high heaven as well.

DVS......oh snap!!!

Hill, you were a brave little cuss! We used to do that with june bugs, but I wouldn't try it with a big, wounded bird!

Harumph Humbug! Found out that my workload during the peak of the rut increased 2.5 times with the same deadline. My rut vacation just got sucked down the drain I'm a'feared....!@#$%^&*

Sorry Kenny. Riding out the storm here. Supposed to get even heavier rains today. Wind hasn't been too bad in our area. I have the generator on stand by ready to go if needed. Gotta keep the beer cold:)

DVSHUNTER

Better get a backup bottle of whiskey ready just in case the "beer" of yours does get warm.  That sure is a crazy storm. Hope you stay out of the worst of it.

Kenny, I can help shoot those bucks I'd your gonna be to busy. I got just the bow for it. ;-).

Kenny, that really sucks, sorry to hear that.

Roy, Sandy went through here last evening, all ok here, but we were luckier than most.  A lot  of damage around us, mostly downed trees, wires, and flooding....Dan

Roy from Pa

Yes we were lucky too. I feel so bad for those folks in NY and NJ, damn they took a hit.

bigbob2

Hope everybody managed to get through that terrible storm ok!

I glued up a bamboo backed hackberry tonight, but my Urac was at least a year or so old and had been opened. We will see what happens.the bamboo was a piece that has some bad splintering on it and the hackberry had some issues of its own. More just an experiment with the old glue, but you never know right. If it holds I've got another HBJ hickory backed jatoba to glue up in a few days. I'll post some pics after I unwrap it. I only used clamps for the handle area to tighten the handle spacers I put under the boo. The rest was just wrapped tight in shipping plastic wrap.

Today I talked to a guy who turned out to be a member of United Bowhunters of Missouri. He gave me some of their old newsletters that he had in his truck. I opened one at random, and who's smiling face should I find staring back at me? It was our own DVS! I said "hey I know him!" You're sorta half famous Dave!

Scott, was that the monthly cartoon character they do?

razorback

I spent last night outside in the rain/snow mix scrapping hair off the doe hide I got recently. Got a bunch of cherry that will need some backing and this is my first attempt at making my own rawhide. Really enjoying the process.

Roy, better the monthly cartoon character than the poster of you down at the post office.  :)

Lol the only pic of Roy that I've seen lately was over on another site where every one was criticizing the tiller on his yew bow....they couldn't seem to decide on weather it was a hinge or a flat spot or one limb was bent too much in the middle....all they could agree on was that it was bad. Quite a bunch of negative nellies over there aren't they Roy?

I thought the bow looked OK, but the feller now ....

Well the bow made it okay. I guess the glue was still good.  It's about 50 at 28 right now but I still need to do some adjusting as it shoots in.  I'll probably finish it up this coming week.

b.glass

DVS that is really nice.

I glued up a BBH with a power strip and it is out of the clamps. I pleased with the glue line.
