The guy that is getting this has wanted a bow for a long time(family tells me)but as far as I know has never owned one. The nice thing is I was told to make what ever I wanted- so he will be getting a 62" RD longbow in the high 40#s range. I picked out some bloodwood and zebrawood for the riser-

The riser looked good with some white and black glass accents so in they went-

Glue prep, glued, cleaned up and rough shaped-

Did you break into my shed and use my bandsaw???? that saw looks really familiar!!  LOL.

Looks great.  Great wood combo.
God gave you hands, use them

Trux Turning

Not only did I use your bandsaw- I took some zebra& bloodwood from your recent wood order--lol.

I need to get this caught up to real time now- got the bow glued up and into the form-

Out of the form and in need of some cleanup-

Got it layed out, rough shaped- starting to look like a bow.

Look familiar Kenny?? Now for the part I hate- cutting the string nocks- the first one is always easy- matching up the opposite side has always been a struggle for me until I saw this method,Super easy now- I just line up and file away:)

Trux Turning

So far so good and the tip and p-lams came out nice too. Now we are caught up to real time- let the shaping begin.

kennym

Yep!! LOL

Would you let me in on the stack and bow weight when done? For my records....

That is a neat trick on the nocks for sure!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I will  be using that  trick on my next string grooves!  Thanks for sharing.
Blessed be the Lord my strength; which teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight.

ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

Trux Turning

Sure Kenny- It would be interesting to see how my numbers match up. After I get the tip overlays glued on I use the same technique- it really cut down on the hassle of getting them lined up.

Trux Turning

Here is some progress from last night- I got the window cut out and a little shaping started-as you can see I added some caps to the belly of the riser. I hope to get alot more done on it tonight.

bjansen

Looking great Trux..nice plam and tip wedges too!

K30bowfisher

That looks fantastic, nice colors in that riser.
It is better to be approximately right than exactly wrong.

Looks great David! Can't wait to see the finished bow. Cool idea on the string grooves. I never seem to get mine angled qiute enough. I'll be watching yours.

Swissbow

Very nice job, Trux ! I love the riser with the bloodwood and the zebrano, that's just an awesome combination. Thanks for the trick with the string grooves, cool.

Thanks- I can't take credit for the string groove trick- I saw it somewhere else, I tried it and liked how it worked so have been doing them this way since. I've got the riser rough shaped now and tried a few arrows off of it- feels like it will make the weight I was hoping for. I still need to finish the tips, do some final tillering and do the deatil sanding but it is getting closer to being done.
