C'mon, Mudd, admit it....you're just in love with any bow. A real bow junkie, you are, Lad. (From one bow junkie to another)   :help:
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

You got that right David!  The Muddster told me once that he would shoot almost anything if he could get a string on it.   :p

Mudd

I will admit to being a bow junkie but if you looked in my stable these days all you would find are Hill and Hill style bows.

Also just like good fresh whole milk I fully expect the cream to come to the top.

Right now the cream consists of my Osage Royale, my Old Tom and my Hill Cheetah "Keeper Kat".

I fully expect my new Sunset Hill to surge to the top of the heap.

Mudd has been boiling down his collection for a year or more.  The "tremendous trio" will be finalized soon enough!

I have watched Mudd shoot some pretty cool bows.  He sent me videos of some of cool stuff he had while I was in China.  Got admit it...traditional archery in general is a wonderful thing.  There are so many great bows and good brothers out there that share our common heritage.

The flavor of this grand sport that draws us all together(the Hill flavor)is the "cream" and Mudd has had and shot some dandy bows including many Hills.  Now he routinely shoots the nocks off his arrows....watch out piggies!

Many years ago I thought it was sort of sacrilegious to shoot aluminum arrows out of my Hills. But knowing that Howard used an aluminum shaft on the elephant, I decided to try a couple 2117's out of my Tembo. Out of the two, I messed one of them up. Just my luck....

I wouldn't shoot those any more Danny.

It could get costly...lol

Good shooting my friend.

Was reading hunting the hard way and Howard said that he was hunting with a 110 lb bow and 700 grn arrows.
His GPP was around 6.4.  I bet he was smoking some arrows.  Guess that explains the 185 yard shot on the Elk.   :clapper:

I never did the math but I read in those 1920's Popular Mechanics magazines that his arrows were over 200fps, once they mention 300fps. With that heavy of a bow Hill's arrows must have been blistering fast. He talks about shooting a field round with heavy bow to get the arrow out those distances.

I have pretty much been restricted to practicing my new anchor suing the Hill style shooting because of things like snow, rain and just all around yucky weather.

Well today after church, it being such a beautiful I decided to take it outside.

These are my 1st two shots at separate targets from 30 yards.

I am really getting used to using my index finger as my major anchor.

Needless to say... I am pleased!

I only hope and pray that I continue to have this kind of success.

Thanks for looking.

Here is my new Sunset Hill back quiver.  This is the finest quiver I have ever seen.  It fits like a glove and is built like a tank.  Nate sure did a great job on this and I couldn't be happier.  The pictures don't do it justice, the leather he used is beautiful.  Thanks again Nate.

Mudd Ol' Boy, your turning into a sniper!

I've watched you on here and all the effort your putting into your form and its really paying off, I'm happy for you!!

I've tried anchoring with my index finger at different times but my middle finger keeps crowding it out of the way.

Tom, thats one heckuva a quiver there!! Top of the line all the way around. Enjoy!

Eric

Mudd

I have one Hill bow, a 66" Cheetah 56@28 in the stable at this time.(It has RC's name on it and some of his mojo)

There have been a few go through my hands though.

I have a couple of Hill style bows too.

Osage Royale and David Miller Old Tom both 66'ers.

X2 all around!  Mudd has worked very hard and it paid off in ...broken nocks!  Proud of you brother!  Methinks the hogs are in big trouble.

Eric, I too have struggled to find that elusive anchor...my middle finger has held that position for what seems to be an eternity.  Works okay - guess it'll stay that way.

I can't believe you did not snag that LH Schultz of Davids...a dandy!

WESTBROOK

Tony, That was a beauty..probably a mistake that I didnt. What I really liked was the nice large handle on it.

I did do some bow shopping however, one of my previously owned bows is coming back.

I met a fella on the other traditional archery website. He shoots a Hill style bow, and I invited him over here. The guy's name is Brandon and goes by BigB.
