canopyboy-

Have you thought about Bob Wesley. Bob has the credentials and was taught by Howard. Bob won the World Championship in 1982 against guys like Ron LeClair and others. I had a friend that took his course years ago, and really enjoyed it!

Dave...glad you stuck it out.  For some it clicks right away and for others the process is a little harder but the rewards of shooting these longbows are great!

Have fun at Miller's class!

I bet when the girls go to college your wife won't ask you to teach archery anymore. LOL

Darren, you have to stop this. There are a couple of college girls that want me to teach them how to shoot next spring. If my wife sees these pics, she won't let me use her bows to teach them.

Tittering little schoolboys...

Can we put some clothes, strength and dignity back on our Dianas and return to archery?

canopyboy- I have been to Mr. Wesley shooting school as other here have.  It was several years ago.  It was a good two day course and as Nate stated he was taught by Mr. Hill.  He not only teaches you the fundamentals, but goes into shooting at moving targets and has a nice course set up.  Mr. wesley also shares alot of information on Mr. Hill and things and stories you don't hear alot about.  He film's you when you get there and several times on the course and then at the end, and you get the tape.  It is a nice refresher and a treasured memory.

I was fortunate enough to find this little beauty for sale in early November and it arrived last Saturday afternoon.  John Schulz/American Longbow - Trophy Hunter, named "Young Eagle".  Custom made for Bob Wesley, Jr.  The Howard Hill Archery "Wesley Special" is named for Bob Wesley, Sr., champion archer who was trained by Hill.

I'm not sure when the bow was built, but I'm looking into that.  I would imagine it was the late 70s-early 80s.  The bow is 64" and 46@28 (41.5@25" GIRLPOWER!).  Bow has 4 lams of Bamboo, Cocobolo riser with dished grip, brown glass belly and back.  The leather grip even has some measurement numbers from John still on it.  Not sure what they mean though.  Gorgeous fadeouts on this bow. John got them paper thin.  "Young Eagle" has the smallest tips I've ever seen on a Hill longbow. Even small compared to Pete George tips I've seen, which tend to be tiny.  According to Bob, Sr. the limbs were specially tapered by Schulz to be extra narrow and they are very thin compared to my other Semi-longs.  You can see it in the tip photos.  Skinny limbs.  The bow shoots great and fits my hand just right.  I hope to get some wood shafts soon to put through it.

I'm very happy and honored to shoot this one and hang it on my rack.  Pics as promised a few days back.
