Thanks Mike, saw you had posted in the other thread. Just trying to help him out. Appreciate it.

Hey fellas,

Well I sold my Hill Cheetah today.  BUT, I did it so I can afford a Northern Mist Shelton that Steve sent me.  It is 68 inches and has 4 lams of Yew with brown glass on back and belly.  The riser is Bolivian Rosewood.  It is soooo smooth and quiet and at 63 pounds at my draw it shoots with attitude!  I find it to be very forgiving.  Most imortantly, it is a very accurate bow and I was shooting ping-pong balls at 20 steps or so the other day.  That was fun man! Anyway, does a Shelton get hill bow style consideration?

After three intense weeks of report writing, it was time to head into the bush with Gab for some stump-shooting. I had been keeping sane by shooting a few targets on the oval in between teaching by day and working the night shift on reports, but it was much nicer to be out in the scrub. Despite having purchased some lighter Hills and a lighter Chally Special, awhile back I decided to see if I still had what it takes to shoot the 75# Wesley Special. It's my favourite one, as we have shared a few adventures together. So, I am pleased to say that after a few days, I was back in the saddle with the big bow. And, truth be told, I find it easier to shoot accurately, which probably means I'm riddled with form and release flaws. Anyway, some photos from the evening:

As you can see, our wet season has just begun. In three months time, that grass will be ten feet high in places.

Must be nice to be able to wear shorts and stump shoot or in your case mound shoot

Ben,
I love your pics. You always have the best photo essays. I like the snake proof boots too!

I'll wear trousers the longer that grass gets; at the moment, I can keep a sharp eye on the ground for wrigglies.

But the bush is pretty safe... a teacher at another school in town got stung twice by a black whip snake last week... in the STAFF ROOM! Ha! From previous folly, I can vouch that it bloody hurts!

Thanks for sharing your walkabout Ben.

Darren,

Yes the Bolivian rosewood riser has nice grain patterns.  I am still amazed at how quiet my Shelton is.  I wll try to get some pics up later today.

Well after shooting my long limbed Wesley Special every chance I've had over the last couple of weeks I've already made the call that I need another of these great bows with slightly more weight behind it. I just love the smoothness and stability.

I'm gonna get on Dave Miller's wait list for a concave/convex longbow but in the interim I'm also  interested in getting something that has a little more 'instant gratification' to it.

I'm pretty torn between the idea of ordering a stock bow from Steve at Northern Mist or getting Dan Toelke to make me a custom Super D (his wait list is about a month long). If anybody can provide some comparative insight into these two great bows please let me know.

Ric O'Shay

far rider,

Here are a few pics of my Wild Boar.

For some reason, it took over three years for Craig to sell all 50 of this Limited Edition bow. Verawood has a nice light green tint and awesome grain patterns. The limb tips are nice with the double overlay of snakewood and boar's tooth. The beaver tail grip is not original. I replaced the original last year. It was worn, ugly and blood stained.    :bigsmyl:
As I said earlier in another thread, this is the only Wild Boar Craig made that has the silver inlay.
