no truer words about this sticks 'n' string game have ever been spoken.  in this day and age of acquiring more and more stick bows, 'tis the smart archer that finds a sweet stick to shoot daily and looks no further.

But the search for the "ONE" is a great thing as well.

Beware of the man with one bow.

Swap thing .....wow is all li have to say? Great pics of a beautiful all wood. Is it a Miller. Hawk?

Stunning tips and overall simplicity is the beauty on that one.  What is the draw weight and overall length?

Thank you for posting the gorgeous pictures!

Ever see the beauty of a "true flying" arrow "yaw" it's way with the wind and into the mark?
The ghastly sight of an arrow's tail being pushed "out of line," while the, too heavy of a head, pulls it toward your static intention, to me, kills, the on the fly, intuitive, right here right now, make it happen, style.
The all wood bow works with you, not for you.

66" 60# still has backset from 11-2011 and lots of shots.

Not sure I like this Hill bow stuff. Got my Big Five set up and it just doesn't seem right.

Earlier someone mentioned the fun of bunny hunting with a longbow. Here's one for "the book".

Wrote a story about this. I think it's in the archives somewhere.

I've killed deer smaller than that.

CHARLIE?

Elevated rest, aluminum arrows,  AND a stabilizer? Man, I thought I was off the reservation, but that's gotta top the list!

. . . and I was RAISED on a reservation (well, actually two reservations, but that's a different story).

MT Longbow

What was that noise?....?

I think I just heard Howard Hill scream!!

Funny stuff for sure.

Charlie ... the bow looks good mate .

Just darn glad to see you are not using any of those  metal nock locaters on your string ... otherwise you might as well just use a rifle .....  :goldtooth:

And dat ain' no bunny wabbit ... its wooly wild pig with ears

The bow quiver, the mismatched arrows, the strap-on stabilizer, and elevated rest; i say to each his own, but that fairy pretty bowstring has got to go.

Good grief! That rabbit is enormous! I bet my lab is lighter, she certainly wouldn't be able to retrieve it that's for sure.

Rik... I was going to triple serve the string but it made the release aid a bit touchy.   :D

Pavan... I know what you mean about the string, but I was all out of pink material.

Rest easy Howard... it's a joke.   :scared:

So does Mr. Miller always leave the nodes raised on all his bows or only the Ex. And the Hawk?

David Miller: Old Tom

Overspined

No, the Old Tom is a string follow glass bow where the glass and lay-up is more like a more modern Hill bow. I think he'll make it in different profiles but I am not positive (SF, straight, backset).

I have the split bamboo and the raised nodes are on the back, I think that's the bow Swampthing puts up. It's a smooth shooter. Mine was a heavy backset and is now straight when unstrung, and slight SF after shooting.

swampthing

The non glass, bamboo backed, and all bamboo bows, and the Expedition will have the "raised nodes." The Ol Tom is a flat lam glass bow made anyway you want it, straight, backset, or string follow.

rushlush

All this Miller talk is killing me.LOL Mine should be ready for August.
