I got a chance to sit down and watch "Hittin em" in four parts, taking note of John Schultz's quick and fluid form.

Rik, the link you posted for Howard's adventures (form) reinforced the "swing draw" as Spanky Neal explained it and modeled it in his video.

Here is a link of a piece that was written about Frank San Marko, a guy who apparently builds a dandy Hill style who emulates Howards form.

We did?  I don't recall agreeing to that image and there was discussion as to whether or not it can be used due to copyright.

I think this medallion/t-shirt thing needs a lot more work.  I haven't really read any "slogan" yet that I think is the keeper.  Let's keep talking about it though.

Maybe a medallion that you could put on the ends of the leather grip laceing? That way you wouldnt have to alter the bow.

not everyone has a laced on grip.

there's no final "consensus" decision yet, or time limit, on this "commemorative" thing, so the more input and suggestions the better for the process and the final product.

I am hopeing a bunch of you will be at the Tannahill park shoot in birmingham this feb so i can see some of the Hills. It sounds like it will be a great show.

How many of you Hillaholics will make it to Kalamazoo?

I hope to be there.  Nothing like a 12 hour drive from NJ to MI in the dead of winter.  That kinda concerns me.  I really need to see this expo though.

Yeah...you guys from the east can run into nasty stuff as you travel around the southern end of Lake Erie.  That stretch can be a tough couple hours as you transiton from the "lake effect" of Erie into that of Lake Mich.

It is a dandy show and worth a drive.

What about a clear-backed decal that can be applied to the bow either on the glass or below the grip on the handle....kinda like the old recurved had.  Guys can purchase them to stick on their favorite longbow or the bowmakers can apply them before they varnish the bow

I think you might be onto something here! I like that idea. Then it wouldn't have to be round either...kinda long and slender like...mmm...a longbow maybe.   ;)

I don't know about others, but the belly glass my Shelton is pretty lean, even leaner on the back. A round decal would have to be pretty small diameter, I'm thinking, but if you had a standing image of Howard Hill drawing a bow, it could be a little bigger (taller at least) and still fit perhaps. Below the grip would probably work with either one.

Remember the howard hill archery logo with the recurve from the 60's.....i think that was a silkscreen decal

RiK like the HBS.  Also, H.H.L.L. (Howard Hill Legacy lives).  A bow dressing about in an american flag as it was wrapped around it.

Nate that is a capital idea, I am in.  One should be make by "NATE THE GREAT"

I can't make it this year, but it's on my list for 2013. I want to see John Lee's display.

Is the Waterloo, Iowa event going to happen again this year? My son lives there and was wondering if he will have another chance to shoot some Northern Mist longbows. He cannot afford one quite yet, he just graduated from college last year, but he wants to tempt himself some more. My wife has tentatively agreed that someday I could get  the fancier all bamboo Miller, her words,"but that had better be your last bow".  How long is the waiting list now?

I think Nate has nailed it with the decal idea.  You could stick that anywhere on the bow as long as it fits.  Laminated white vinyl stickers and clear vinyl stickers are popular and can be custom made.  Some off no shape or color restrictions.  And they are not supposed to leave any adhesive residue if removed.

I found a couple of companies that manufacture them with custom logos.  Haven't looked into cost though.  If anyone is interested in those websites let me know.  Wasn't sure if I could post them here.

In my opinion this is definitely the way to go.  T-shirts are cool, too.

there are essentially two types of decals, waterslide and sticky backed vinyl.  the waterslide type will look as if it's part of the bow and can't be removed, whereas for the most part the vinyl one can be.  having dealt with both many times, the waterslide will look best, imo.  however, for best durability results, the waterslide should be masked off and sprayed with 3 or 4 light coats of polyu.

there are many forms of medallions, and some are quite thin and adhere with a sticky back.  do a google search and let's not rush into this project, there's no hurry ....

Hey, if you go to the main page of Ron LaClair's Traditional Archery Shoppe (home of Shrew Bows), and scroll right down to the bottom of the page, you can see a couple of icons to click-on to show video of Ron shooting Hill-style longbows really darn well!
