Gerald,

I'll have Faith, the St. Jude's bow, during that time. I will be in the woods too.

I need to get up there. Y'all put on some good shoots.

Glad you like her, Bud. Hope the two of you have many happy adventures.  :wavey:

The bow looks good, I like the italian themed arrows you have. Did you make your arrows? Darren

From Dave's ad recently...

QuoteShe is a lefty, bamboo under clear glass, myrtle riser and no tip overlays but has the tip wedges. Length is 66", weight is marked 55@27 but she draws 55@28 on my scale which feels about right as well. The grip is straight with suede wrap. There is no name on her, not one mark or scratch--never been in the woods.
It'll be in the woods soon.

And the arrows I did make. Wasn't looking for an Italian theme intentionally, I just like the colors. German Pine 5/16 shafts and 55 spine.

Myrtle, that`s pretty.

And you are shooting German Pine? I am shooting Northern (German) Pine 11/32 with 65-70 spine myself. I am very pleased with these shafts.

I seen that Kustom King has the German Pine, however there not seperated by grain weight. That's the only reason I didn't try them.

Yeah, KK was the source, It's heavy with some grain runout. It needs a good coat of sealer. The grain has separated on some just a bit on the runouts but that could be from my bad shooting and hitting stuff I shouldn't. Those arrows are in the 510gr range full length with 125 tips. They are easy to straighten but need touchup from time to time.

I'm leaning towards trying some Sitka Spruce next time, I talked with Suzanne St. Charles and she really likes them.

I've been wanting a all white shaft, so I'm working on a set of POC right now. I made them all white with a red nock and red feathers. I opted not to creast this time, but next set I will. I'll post pics when there finished.

I get a lot of questions about the bow quivers I use, and I probably should have shared some detailed pictures long ago.

No time like the present though, so for those of you who are curious, here is some information on my homemade Frankenquivers.

I make them using the hood and quck-release straps from a Thunderhorn Boa quiver.

Then I add the bottom arrow-holding portion from a Delta quiver. It is semi-circular in shape (this holding the arrows in a smaller area than a flat arrow holder) and it holds seven arrows, which is important to us western hunters that may be days away from the truck.

Then I add a lightweight flat bar to join the upper portion to the lower portion, so I can remove the quiver as one piece and either attach it to my pack for a long hike, or just to be able to practice barebow without having to remove each arrow from the quiver.

This also allows me to transport my bow and arrows easily in my Tacoma truck, as I can take the bow apart to fit it and the quiver in the truck and yet, re-attach the quiver and be ready to hunt in about 30 seconds.

You have all seen the quivers on my bows from the side view, This photo shows a quiver from the front.

This shows a quiver detached from the bow. Note the flat bar linking the top to the bottom, making it all one easily removable unit.

This photo shows the quiver attached to my pack, and my two-piece Big Five taken apart and slipped into the side of my pack. This way, I can cover ground in a seriously fast manner. I can also hop on my mountain bike or my trials/trail motorcycle and cover many more miles even faster before I start to hunt. Then, when I get to the trailhead, I can put the bow together and strap on the quiver in seconds, and start hunting.

It's a good system. I've been using it for a long long time. I keep hoping someone will start selling something even better, but so far, this is the best bow quiver setup I know of.

Thanks Rik for the quiver pics.  That's more than I had hoped for.

Well, as nate knows, connected yesterday with a Doe with the sunset HIll he made me.  she came in 25 yards and I was on the ground, the ace express dropped her at 45 yards.

Well, I've been shooting my new Wesley Special for several days now and I'm really enjoying it. Totally different in some regards to my other bows but all the same principles apply. Coming down in draw weight from low-50's to 45@28 (I draw 26.5 with this new bow) has REALLY improved my accuracy. With my other bows I could get into a bit of a vicious cycle where my shooting would go into a slump and then some target panic would set in as I pressured myself to 'fight out of it'. This lighter draw weight has already helped me eliminate this problem. Hard to explain but I just feel so calm and relaxed when I'm shooting my new Wesley. I also noticed it to be more forgiving of form and to hit something I just had to 'point' at it and things came together. Hard to explain.....

Couldn't be happier to have tried out this 'new to me' style of bow.

My current plane involves getting my hands on another one of these in a weight suitable for moose and black bear. Are you guys thinking this current rig is good for whitetails shooting about 11gpp?
