If i see it,say a broadhead monted wrong or a piece of grass on a judo, i might as well let down because i wont be close.   Any distraction from the center of the center and i blow it.

i make all my arrows so that at 29" of draw the wensel woodsman broadhead will touch my pointer finger = instant draw check.  this works for me and all shelf cut bows.

i see the arrow in my peripheral vision during the draw to decide and set the trajectory, but then i focus only on the spot, totally disregard the arrow, and release when the back tension is set.

I don't feel the arra at all.

Overspined

For arrows IMO:
Easiest to tune and shoot from a hill bow-aluminum
Next woodies, and the quietest
Last carbons
This is assuming bear shaft tuning with available shafts(at local shop for me).

I know carbons are straight, but I find them to take the most tinkering BY FAR!!

I don't know about others, but when tuning broadheads, I can change my arrow flight and impact by a couple inches at the target by shortening woodies by 1/4-1/2" at a time. I don't know what that translates to in spine change but I would say that they are pretty responsive to minor spine changes. I shoot grizzly profile heads.

If you can avoid shooting 3 under, you will have a more pleasant shooting experience. If you can't, fur silencers can help dampen that buzz.

Good luck

who made that bow...looks like a student of Schulz'

I got my new to me David Miller ol Tom today, came about an hour before I had to head out for work. I did put a few arrows through her. I like it! I like it alot, smooth & stable! The string that came on it didn't have any string silencers & I see no need to add any.
Pic's coming soon, pretty bow no doubt!

Giddyup RLA ... One of the sweetest bow around. I love my yew lam Ol' Tom.

When the back of the broadhead touches your finger do you use that like a "clicker" to signal the release?

no, never!  it's just a draw check and not a trigger release - that's for the target boyz.  :D

It's hideous. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you.

Just kidding.  That's a stunning bow.  How long was the wait for it?

Guys ive been following along with this thread for quite some time and am starting to feel the fever for a hill bow.
What length bow do you figure would be smooth for a 31.5" draw?
I'm drinking from a saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed

I have a 31" draw. I find 68"-70" bows to be best for my draw. The nicest one I've shot so far has been a David Miller "Old Tom". It was 68". I have hunted and killed game with a 66" bow and although they stack a bit at the end of the draw I never noticed it when concentrating on the shot.

Swampthing, I have a Hawk Special coming from David Miller in about two weeks that should look very similar to that beauty, I am anxious to see the difference with the concave convex limb design over a regular split-bamboo model. It will have Tonkin bamboo on the belly.
