How can i tell if a hunter is ff compatible? I'm looking at one to purchase but the tips look the same as my older hunter. They are wood on both sides of the limbs. The owner of this bow is unsure of the year it was made. I couldn't get the pictures to transfer to this thread.

Overlays and underlays of wood are a pretty good sign that bow was intended for dacron string...however give a good padded loop HMPE string I would not be hesitant to shoot it that way...I will be switching mine when the current string needs replacing...btw I say that there is no such thing as having too many Howatt Hunters

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I believe they started making them FF compatable 1995 and newer. They will have black fiberglass tips on the FF compatable Hunter's.The wood limb tips are the older Dacron Hunter's.

Thanks guys. I have to agree another howatt wouldn't hurt. I might even be brave enough to try the padded ff string on it.
