I made this GFA style quiver recently by attaching the hood and arrow gripper from a bow quiver to an ash plank then adding the shoulder strap. I stained the ash plank with medium brown leather dye then added the watersnake skin before 3 coats of Tru-Oil and a spray of satin poly.
This style quiver is my favorite hunting quiver these days.

I don't have a pic but last year I took an apex quiver I had on an old compound I no longer own and used para cord to fashion a quiver similar to the ones you mentioned. Not as nice as the quiver wasn't leather. But it was functional and saved me the cost of a new quiver.

Thats along the idea of what I was going to do
Get the hood foam and gripper and add a brace.
I was thinking of two small rods, but a stick would work also.
I like the idea of it hanging under your opposite arm. Seems to be natural and moves thru cover wo ruffling feathers (no pun intended)

With this style quiver you can carry it along your side or push it back behind you to get it out of the way. When pushed back the fletching are behind your back, concealed.

Thouhgt I'd bring this up to the top so others can maybe try something different for a quiver.

I've liked the idea of a non bow quiver but just never found one I liked, Tried a hip quiver, back quiver, and also a High Noon Hunter side quiver but didn't like the arrows rattleing around.

Well Just the other day I did darn near exactly as Pat B did(even used a Thunderhorn quiver) and I never even seen this thread or the pics he posted.  

The only difference I did was instead of cutting slots for the strap I just drilled a hole in damn near the same spot and used a plastic zip tie to make a loop and then I used a 1" wide web strap attached to the zip tie loop.

Yes this makes a fine way to carry your quiver. Makes the bow nice and comfortable to sit across your lap with no bow quiver on it.

Another tid bit of info is to pull that foam out of the hood and cut about 3/4 to 1" off of the end that you stick the tips into it and slide it back in. This makes it very easy to slip in the broadhead so the entire head is covered with out forcing it in.

This style quiver is by far the best hunting quiver for me and I've tried them all. I like a side stalker for target and 3D.
My first one of this style was a Kwickie Kwiver with a para cord strap. When I treestand hunted I had a Kwickie disconnect attached to the stand so the arrows were right next to me.

I built a really nice tube quiver a couple years ago. 34 inch tube, covered in old camo materials. You remove and pull arrows out of an enlongared hole cut into the side of the tube  toward the bottom.

Look at the dawgwear quivers on the 3 rivers site. Same principle. Easy to made.
