The last few years cheap Columbia insulated with rubber bottoms. athletic running shoes, Nike, asics, etc, with regular old rubber overshoes work
better than you might think also.

I've got a pair of Irish Setter leather boots with 1200 gram insulation that I wear until it gets down below zero, then I wear a pair of Cabelas brand with 2000 grams.

Sorel boots with removable felt/wool liners and merino wool socks. This combo has worked well for me cold weather to extremely cold weather.

Be sure there loose fitting and dry and your good to go.

Muck wetlands with two pair of good wool socks and a chemical warmer when it gets real cold.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Green Mountain Boy

If I''m worried about grip, icy etc, I have an old pair of Sorel Mavericks that are awesome, but most of the time I wear insulated lacrosse alpha burleys.  I'm with Rob when it gets really cold no boot really keeps my foot warm all on it's own so I break into the hot feet!
That's why they call it hunting....

Hand warmers really help, but make sure you wear heavy cotton socks between you feet and the warmers or burns are possible.

I used to have cold feet ALL the time.

Switched to a thick pair of smartwool socks and slightly loose mickey boots.

Never had warm feet till then.

Schnees and if there is a lot if snow gators are the ticket.

Cootling

New York is pretty mild. For those sorts of temperatures, I wear Schnees.  Great boots!

If it is colder, I wear One of the warmest Lacrosse packs. Can't recall the model name.

I traded for a pair of Muck (Artic Pros, I think) on the classifieds and used them for trapping in Jan-Feb. They were way too hot for bow season. I think they had 1000 grams of thinsulate, but I was very impressed with their warmth for a pull-on boot.  Your pants legs will fit inside also, a plus in deep snow/water. I tend to accidentally/on purpose step into creeks a lot, where Gortex never seems to live up to its claims!

X2 on the Sorel Boots. I'm in NY as well, it needs to be 18-15 degrees and snow for me to break them out. These days we're getting a lot less of that type of weather here in the southern zone.

Not a clue. I have never hunted in snow. I kind of feel like I was a deprived child.
