Just got some GT XT Hunter 340's arrows in the mail with the 100 grain brass inserts. Still waiting on the insert weights and adjustment wrench by Gold Tip. I want to foot these arrows to make them as durable as possible. Anybody have an idea as to which size aluminum arrow I would need and where to find one? Thanks!

Huh

I am not sure the chart is correct.  It doesn't make sense to me that the 7595 is smaller than the 5575 OD (and the Gold Tip website agrees with my intuition).  I am confident that the 2216 has a larger ID than the 2219....then again I didn't sleep much last night.  I have only footed one size of arrow, my arrows are GT 7595 XT and the 2216 fits very well.  The 2219 as suggested by the chart might work too.

I checked the post by Mr. Lamb about which aluminum is necessary for footing arrows, didn't have mine listed. I do know the outside diameter of the carbon if that helps? They are .310

I hadn't caught that.Also,black 340's will be slightly smaller than camo or trad dipped.

Inside diameter:
2117=.2941
2216=.3118
2219=.3058

Looking back in my notes,I footed some black 75/95's with 2117.I think some of those sizes vary at times.I also footed some trad 55/75's with 2216.Also,you don't want too snug a fit if using a tubing cutter as it will crimp the ends a little.

I can tell you that 2216 will be perfect for footing them, the 2219 may be a tad tight and have to tap it on which can damage the shaft, but maybe not. Shawn

I have the camo dipped shafts which the outside diameter of those is .310. I haven't footed arrows before, I assume I would want to get an aluminum shaft with a closer inside diameter to mine. Do all aluminum arrows of the same spine have the same inside diameter?

I found a chart online that said 2216's have an inside diameter of .3118, sounds like that should work without being too big/too small. Thanks!

Yup they will be perfect. If ya PM, I may have a 2216 laying around that I could send ya. I would just have to look a bit! Shawn
