I use a razor knife,,,the kind with the snap blade, light pressure

I take my old fletch/glue off very carefully with a razor knife! I take my time and never had a problem!

I use a dull knife and use it more in a scrapeing than cutting action.

Thanks for the replies. I was going to get one of the scrapers, I think they are called Zip Strip, but WOW what a price. Over $35. I think I will try a razor knife.
Thanx again

I used a sharp knife. But most of the time I use a wrap and just run it under hot water and peel the hole thing off when it is time to re fletch.

I bought a stripper called a cir-cut.I have been using it for years and it works very well. You can use a knife ect but the little stippers work fast and easy and will last forever.

btw..The Cir-cut cost about $10 now.

I have used the wife's potato peeler with good results.

Like said you just have to be careful, and that is why I always like to put wraps on carbons. For easier to redo later.

I use a dull knife blade also. No worries about cutting into the carbon just let her rip.

Three Rivers sells a Feather Stripper for $11.99 that works great. They are a sponsor here

Carbons look like they will gouge easy, but you'll be surprised how much scaring they will take before even coming close to gouging the shaft.I keep a disposable folding razorblade around for scraping fletching from carbons and aluminums.I have a Bohning stripper.Waste of money,as is any other fletching stripping tool IMO.

If you think you've messed the carbon a bit, simply seal it w/super glue and let dry. Then lightly rough it w/600 grit before you refletch.

Harmless

I'v refletched dozens and dozens of carbons. I cut the old fletching off with a razor blade and anything thats left comes off after soaking in aceton for a few minuets.

another good reason to use fletching tape and not glue - scrapes off with a credit card, cleans up with naptha (lighter fluid).  :D

Use the Saunders stripper. About $12. It works and is safe. If you nick carbon and it explodes when you shoot it see how much $12 will get you in medical care.

Dull knife works for me. Clean up with steel wool and acetone,  wipe clean with paper towel with acetone and refletch.
