Im currently making up 2 doz surewood test shafts with point weights from 125 to 200gr,,,  I was wondering if its was worth it to up the spine weights some more and keep going up in point weight,  so im curious if anyone here shoots 200grs and up to 300+ points on wood arrows.

I've used 190 grains a lot and I have two friends that use 250 and 300 grains. Of course you need to adjust/increase the spine accordingly.

I've used 190 gr. glue-on field points a good bit but nothing heavier. 35 grains point weight for 5 lb. spine range changes has worked for me..

I don't know if it's truly worth it since I havnt shot anything furry with them yet. So far with them being harder to get ahold of and more expensive, im leaning towards no. But they sure pack a punch when they hit the target if you shoot a heavier bow or need heavy arrows.

But I'm running 280gr on hickory shafts around 75-80# spine from a 75# English longbow. I cut the shafts into a forward weighted barrel taper. Initially cut 3/8" then tapered the rear half to 5/16" and the front 1/3 to 11/32" before sanding them into shooting halfway decent and made them match. They're finicky little thing to releases. Probably a bit stiff still as they fly better on humid or wet days.

Im noticing the spines getting stiffer as i go up in point weight,,, a bow that likes 45/50 w 125's also likes 55/60 with 200 gr points.  I think the only real advantage is if someone wants a heavier arrow OR if you shoot many different bows like me you can shoot heavier arrows from the faster bows to kinda keep the point of impacts between the different bows similar.    These woodies im using all are sealed and bare shaft so of course i see more point dive as the points get heavier.   If any of you have killed a lot of animals with wood arrows,,, i know this is a type of modern shaft material question but do you see any penetration advantages with heavy pointed woodys vs normal weight points.

Every 25grs over or under 125grs will change the dynamic spine by 5#.
