Performax 10-20

Hey gang,
  I'm considering purchasing a thickness sander and am looking at a performax/jet 10-20.  Anyone know where I could get the best deal on it? The cheapest I could find was $650 shipped, but heard guys were getting them for $500.   Thanks for any help, fellas.

matt i bought a new 18 32 a while back but it was a close out deal i gave 750 for a 1700  set up best i can tell u is try sears trostal lumber  see what they can do  i relley like mine brock

I'm looking to pick one up too.  I suggest you stay far away from the Grizzly Baby Drum if you're thinking about that too.  Mine's broken down more than it's worked over the last couple of years.  Worm drive has broken twice and the nylon gear has been replaced 4 times.  And I ain't exactly overloading it running 1 1/2" lams through it.  I'm junking it and buying the performax.  I could have bought the performax back when I bought the grizzly for just over $500, but instead I wasted $500 on the grizzly and then put another $200 worth of parts into it.

Prices are way too high on drum sanders too!

Jerry,I have a Grizzly Baby Drum sander also.I had all the same issues with it.Until I got a nylon gear fot it.The upgraded nylon gear came from Grizzly.

I have The jet 22"-44" which is essentially the performax and I have no complaints.I use Alumna Zirconia paper from klingspor and it works awesome.
This is the most used tool in my shop now.

that Zirc paper is a key issue grinding glass and very dense composites or hardwoods. definately keeps the heat down, and lasts twice as long too.

Jd_Archer that is the truth and it does not load up and clog like other papers,its the best I've found so far.
