I am contemplating the purchase of a new Blacktail and trying to decide between the Sitka and the Elite.  I would appreciate opinions on the two of them and their differences/similarities when it comes to shooting.
I would also appreciate any experience anyone has with the Blacktail high grip.  I shoot some Borders and love their grip which is considered a medium high.  I draw 29 inches.
    Thanks for your help.

Russ call Norm and Alan and discuss it with them. They will be able to talk with you more thoroughly than anyone else.

I cannot help you with the Sitka, but the high grip is what I have on  both of my VL Elites. They  have a large palm swell that fits my hand better than any other bow that I own  (of which there are12). The draw is smooth and they are the best bows I own a long with my Carbon Nano.

I know nothing about the Sitka.  But I like my Elite very much.  As far as the grip, it is easy to get the same hand placement on the grip.
Makes it the most shootable bow I have, so far.

But I would follow David's advice.

I own both, a 66 in Elite and a 62 in Sitka. Both are 57 lbs at 30 in. I have never had a high grip. I find after much shooting that the Elite is slightly (very slightly) more accurate/forgiving for me. At thirty yards I can shrink my groups from an average of 5 inches to about 4. The Sitka shoots smooth about equally fast and in my opinion/experience, a bit quieter. I like the longer one for targets if accuracy is the highest goal and the Sitka for hunting as I found the shorter bow in really a lot handier than the longer one. You will love either one!

Old Chief

Russ I first want to say that David, "snag" gave you the best advise in the first post. I too own both and for the most part agree with what Paul stated. I however have been using the 66" Elite to hunt with for so long that I don't notice much difference between it and a 62" Sitka.  The Sitka was easier to get quiet, but I don't think it is any quieter then the Elites when they are both tuned.  Both are great bows and the grip is the best I have found, but I do not have high wrist on any of mine.  I know Norm will work with you and all of the information he provided was spot on.  I think you would be happy with either bow.

Bowwild

Yep, I agree talk to the bowyer.

I've had Elite VL and now have a T2 Sitka. I prefer my Sitka but I have a 26" draw. If I had a 29" draw I think I'd want an Elite VL.

I love my Sitka, so much that I ordered another the instant my first arrived. The one I have is 56" and I'm getting a 58" next.

Thanks a lot gentlemen for your thoughts and suggestions.  I will get in touch with Norm with some questions.

Sincerely,

Russ

The only thing I would change is the length of my VL.  I would move up to a 62".  I shot an older Elite, Non FF , I think it was 64". At RMSG.  I liked it a lot.

It took me a little while to get used to the grip as none of my other bows have that high of a grip.  Note that was just to be Comfortable with it.  It is kind of like shooting with a deep hook, it feels odd at first, but the improvements in my shooting were noticeable almost immediately.
